You checked that there‘s sound coming out of the sub, right? I.e. open the trunk while playing music and check that it’s vibrating so you can rule out a simple warranty fix.

I work with an OEM and am peripherally involved with the owners’ manual publishing process. You wouldn’t believe the number of mistakes that make it through to print. Even with a book in the glovebox, the electronic version that eventually gets corrected would be my go-to for accurate info.
