i just made this post essentially monday. Im in the same boat with my GT. Most start ups i smell cooland faintly but no white smoke and no active leaks that i can tell. My coolant was low but could have been that way until i saw it, so i topped it off and have been monitoring the level. I have...
im glad that most of my research across multiple forums and videos show that ceratec does this to the oil. I just filled it up with 10qts of Penzoil Platinum 5W-30 full synthetic, nothing else. My next oil change should be in about 2 months, i imagine i wont see the same results as this time. I...
I have a long road trip coming up in the next month and that should push me close to the next oil change so fingers crossed it looks nice and clear come then.
I'm going to go the next 10,000 miles minimum with joil good oil and then I'll add more ceratec if needed and minimize how much I use. This is only if my Blackstone results come back normal of course.
I'm going to run this oil 5,000 miles with nothing added and see how it looks. As well as I have a test kit from Blackstone on the way and I saved a jar of the oil I just took out to send in for a test. That'll confirm the presence of coolant if any.
1 300ml bottle is for 5qts oil, so 10qts would take 2 300ml bottles. I did a fresh oil change just before I posted this with penzoil platinum 5w30 full synthetic and didn't add anything else.
So you think this is most likely the ceratec I'm seeing?
i had made a post yesterday about my exhaust smelling like coolant/Sweet so i decided to do my oil change today to see if the oil looked off. This is what it looked like, not sure it looks right, what do you think?
*edit* i did add 2 bottle of ceratec at my last oil change, though it seems that...
I've checked the under cap, nothing built up as my 2015 had "milky" residue often under the cap but no engine problems at all for the 40k miles I had it. I know oil expands and contrats depending on heat, as I said to Zig, I just wasn't sure if there is coolant mixed in, if it'd be easier to see...
I'll check later when it's completely cooled down. Just wondering if there is a coolant mixture happening, if it'll be "thicker" or easier to see on the dipstick while cold and settled completely in the oil pan.
Just requested a kit. I may get a clean mason jar and do my oil change this week and get a jars worth until the kit comes in to send it back to them. More of a piece of mind type deal knowing if I'm in trouble or not.
