Assuming you're going to actually drive the car, nicks, scratches, and small dents will be inevitable, no matter how careful you are. Why sweat it? Just use it as leverage for a better deal if possible.
At some point in the future, if you still have the car and enough papercuts add up to...
Bit of a shameless plug here, but I think I get more attention in my Mustang than I do in my Cayman, and I suspect it's for a similar reason as your wife -- better color and decals, hah.
... Though a lot of that is unwanted attention from people trying to race me.
Yeah, that is a reasonable real world number under many conditions... But it's not slow, and technically the presenter in that video never called it slow, either.
Real world conditions are never ideal. You can call it slow once you put a couple cars that should be slower up against it on the...
He's calling the Challenger being quicker as a point in it's favor based on 0.3-s different 0-60 times? When it has an auto and the 'Stang has a stick?
I would add to this that the gearing will make a difference. If he's going from a "normal" (non-track-pack GT) to a new GT PP, that super short final drive ratio will amplify the already-non-trivial 66 hp gain.
But yeah, all other things being equal, 66 hp more than 420 hp isn't going to feel...
Yeah, given how close the Dark Horse already is to C8 pricing, it's hard to imagine a mid engine Mustang not being pricier, but I also think if that happens, it will be notably different/better in some measurable ways (like power output or weight).
Ultimately I guess my point is that, based on...
Hmm, not sure I'm with you. Each of the last couple gens, I think one of the most commonly repeated arguments in favor of the Mustang vs the Camaro was that the Mustang was cheaper for comparable specs, even if it was slightly less fast/sporty.
Now the Mustang has gotten pricier than the...
My feeling from watching that video, even having not seen the speedometer or being familiar with that straight, is that he was driving nowhere near the limits of the car. Never even heard any tire squeals, and it just kinda... looked slow (of course as someone with plenty of track experience, I...
It seems like part of how they made the C8 a bargain is by undercooking it . There's already been like 20 TSIBs on that DCT, and god knows how many problems that new FPC V8 will have... But regardless, it's certainly an amazing amount of performance for the money. I think demand is only...
Right, I know they're planning on using it in racing short term. It will be a long time before it's a viable option for street cars, though. I don't think their goal is to make it an alternative for people who literally can't use EVs, I think it's just a means to ease the transition to EVs as...
Few things here:
You say "small tweaks", but those tweaks have added up significantly over time. Ford has added the better part of 100 hp in that time. Who cares if it's the same engine?
I wasn't bringing up "clean and efficient" as something you or maybe even the general Mustang market is...
It's in our blood as car people to want more and more every generation. Never such a thing as enough power, but you have to be reasonable... Did you really think the arms race in American Muscle power was going to continue forever, especially with the same old tech cars have essentially been...
A recession could well put a damper on EV development, but no one is about to give up on them anytime soon. Hate them as we may as car guys (some of whom are also climate deniers), EVs are objectively better in almost every way outside of the battery, not even considering environmental impact...
The screens do look nice, and I'm no Luddite -- I like generally high tech interiors and modern features... but man I'm still really disappointed in Ford for dropping physical buttons for many of those functions, just when I thought the industry as a whole was starting to learn that was a...
Heh, yeah, I know it's to some extent just the natural order of things, but feels more significant this time given the crazy car market (as is somewhat supported by your inflation-adjusted numbers). New cars are too damn expensive, probably especially those with hi-po NA engines... but I...
It's the end of an era. That is more than a 10% increase in the base price of a GT... You can no longer get a new V8 for under $40K anywhere in the world I'm aware of. I'm sure it'll come packed with a lot of features and performance, but still. Quite a bump.
From what I can gather reading that link, the trim is fixed. Only the build options on that trim are available, but it has to be a Mustang GT Fastback.
Depending on the microphone, sound deadening in the car, how noisy it was in the cabin, and whether the driver of the DH was giving it any juice, there's a good chance you wouldn't have been able to hear anything worthwhile anyway.
You could be right about the DH. My thinking was that the Mach 1 is a "classic" Mustang trim, whereas the Dark Horse is a whole new trim/branding, so they might not ask as much, especially considering it's a launch model, and they usually save the higher priced trims for at least a little bit...
