  1. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

Oh I am sure they did, and I based on how those cars sold, I am sure they got it largely right too. BUT, not everyone has the same tastes. Which is why I say, go and see the real thing in real life before making a decision.
  2. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

I have to say all this passion about the dash based on a few photos/videos seems a bit premature. I will reserve judgment until after I sit in an actual car and see how it all looks and feels IRL. I remember when GM released the 3rd generation F-Body cars that I got caught up with all the...
  3. For those upset with the new design… at least it doesn't look like new BMW M2

Clearly there are some here who are more impressed with the bragging rights that come from buying a car that has a higher price tag whereas some of us have learned that big dollars do not always equal big performance or big fun.
  4. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

Actually, analog clusters and physical buttons are more expensive to manufacture. Integrating everything into a single touchscreen saves a lot of money. Like most new tech, digital dashboards are showing up in premium models first since the R&D costs are high, but I suspect that you will see...
  5. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

One of the groups that also has a say is the bean counters. Sometimes we end up with what started great during the concept stage going horribly wrong during design development phases because of compromises made in the name of cost cutting, but by then it is often too late to go back and start over.
  6. For those upset with the new design… at least it doesn't look like new BMW M2

Up to about 15 years ago, I would agree with you about the 3 series coupe, but they have gone steadily downhill since then and, in fact, there is no such thing anymore (the 3 series are only sedans). The current M3/M4 are just stupid expensive and try to pack too much luxury and gadgetry along...
  7. For those upset with the new design… at least it doesn't look like new BMW M2

I am not so sure I would agree with that. The M2 is (or at least was) aimed more at drivers, the same way that the original M equipped cars were. Comfort and luxury took a back seat to reasonably priced performance. But over the years the "M" line has grown soft and bloated and is aimed more at...
  8. For those upset with the new design… at least it doesn't look like new BMW M2

BMW design hit a peak about 10-15 years ago and it's been all downhill since then. Love this meme about their kidney grill evolution 🤣 🤣 🤣
  9. [FAKE NEWS] 2024 Mustang S650 price leak or fake?

With interest rates continuing to rocket upwards , the auto sector is about to get hit pretty hard. Housing and auto sales are typically the first to feel the pinch of rate hikes and both already feeling those effects (and more hikes are still coming). ADMs are going to disappear just as fast as...
  10. 2024 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Potentially Spotted Testing With Current Model

Agree that "Dark Horse" is just cute marketing name, but so is "Mach 1". In fact, I always thought it was a pretty stupid name that only sort of worked in the post WW2 era when a connection to fighter planes and the notion of flying at "super sonic" speeds still captured the imagination of young...
  11. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

Maybe I am a minority for my generation, but I do not miss those old 60's style dashboards in the least. Especially those flat speedometers that bunched up the numbers in the middle, or those giant skinny steering wheels. I love the exterior lines of the 60's Mustangs, but I'll take a modern...
  12. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

Agree that steering wheel vs dash position can be a problem. But that really is more a function of the seat, steering wheel, dash and foot pedal arrangement. I have run into this on several cars including ones with analog gauges. My E85 Z4 (with all analog gauges) was the worst of the worst for...
  13. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

Agree! Everyone is focusing on the look of the panel. With a digital dash, the content is what counts, and the tablet format itself tends to vanish into the background when you are driving and you are focusing on the information being relayed. You really won't be able to judge how effective this...
  14. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

I agree that they might have done a better job integrating it into the dash structure. It is hard to tell from the photos exactly how this will look from the driver's perspective. I think it goes with the overall chiseled edge look they were aiming for (like the early Fox Body Mustangs).
  15. Higher end halo models as daily drivers

I may end up getting flamed for this, but IMHO for daily driving the difference between the specialty models (Mach 1, Bullet, Dark Horse, etc) and a "regular" GT is more about bragging rights than a difference you will actually feel. Yes, you can push these cars a bit harder and with a...
  16. The new dashboard is a big mistake IMO

So I know I am in the minority here (and I am no millennia), but I do like digital dashboards, if they are done right. They don't have to look like a "screen" and they can convey a lot of information in a way that is very comfortable, pleasing, and easy to consume at a glance. The key here is...
  17. 🎉 The 7th Gen Mustang S650 Has Officially Landed!!

Meh ... The interior looks good. The overall lines are not too bad. The panels are a bit flat, which makes it look sort of "cheap", and the grill is not doing it for me at all. I'll reserve final judgement until I see one in the flesh, but I am not seeing something that I just "got to have" here.
  18. If s650 is the last gen of mustangs to have the v8, what will the following gens be?

No bias at all. What I said is that market demand will determine the outcome. I also shared my personal observations and clearly identified them as such. Based on those observations, my own speculation is that the market is likely to be less interested in high performance V8 powered cars...
  19. If s650 is the last gen of mustangs to have the v8, what will the following gens be?

As always, it comes down to what the market wants. Most 20-somethings I know from work seem to be totally unimpressed with cars in general and could care less about driving as an experience to enjoy ... if they need a car for transportation, they are much more concerned about what "apps" the car...
  20. What will it take to save the V8 Mustang?

I do get what you are saying and if I am honest, I get that same thrill whenever I push the Start button. That doesn't mean I also don't appreciate a car like my V90 that is quiet and smooth too. I've never owned and EV, but I can see myself really liking one for daily driving along with the...
