You just unscrew the shifter knob; it takes a littler muscle, but not much. The stock shifter knob doesn't have a locking nut but the Ford Performance shifting knob does.
This allows you to play around with the shifter height. The lower you install the shifter knob the shorter the shifting throw...

It’s a Ford product, you can buy it from Ford Performance website or go to one of the other Mustang part websites. You can save a few bucks going to a Mustang website stores.
The Ford Racing shifter knob is about the same weight as the stock shifter.
I installed the shifting knob a little higher than the stock shifting knob.
I did this to Lengthen the shifting stroke just a little, for me it gave me a better feeling/smoother shifting experience.
No - remove the covers for a photo shot. I put the covers back on and keep them on while I’m driving..
