The Mustang lead designer said something very similar during the reveal. If I recall correctly he said something along the lines that the handling is next level due to the flat bottom steering wheel, or something like that. I just rolled my eyes in my imagination.
There’s no doubt that this is tacky interior design. Aside from the cheap plastics, that may or may not be in the production spec., The lack of flow with the dash, gauge cluster, infotainment, and not being integrated at all. It’s just plain bad and lazy design.
This design caters to tech...
it makes sense that the C8 Z06 is quicker than the C7 ZR1. That would follow the trend of all the other generations before it, and that GM engineering attempts to outperform the previous generation, one level higher trim.
You sure make up a lot of stuff. Camaro too expensive? Again, you're the only one that thinks a 1SS 1LE is too much money for what you get, or a ZL1 being too expensive for the performance. There is nothing out there for the same price that performs as well as the Camaro, dollar for dollar...
You're the only one that thinks the Mustang's chassis is better than the Alpha chassis - even on a Mustang forum. As far as tire goes: The Mustang top performing trims come with Cup 2s (PP2, GT350 and R, Mach 1 HP, GT500 CFTP), and those are a little higher grip tire than the Supercar3 that...
You're comparing times that are ~5 years apart. Track conditions change throughout one day, not to mention 5 years. That said, here's what Car and Driver said about the ZL1 at lightning lap (hint, they think it could have gone 2:47 in more favorable conditions, which is a lot faster than the...
Only if it's upgraded to an all-aluminum block and revs to 7,000 rpm like the LS7 7.0 liter in the C6 Z06 and 5th gen Z28. The cast iron block in a Mustang now is a no go. Too heavy.
Selling your already purchased GM products doesn't do anything to hurt GM. I would never sell my '21 ZL1 just because GM is planning to transition to an EV company. Though, they do have a 6th gen small block V8 coming down the pipeline, so the Chevy V8 isn't over yet. I think it's currently...
I think the stuck on screens look bad, and especially bad for the instrument screen/ digital gauges. I prefer the instrument gauges to be housed within a separate housing, not one continuous glass panel containing two screens combined with the infotainment screen.
I also think digital...
I agree with this. It’s pretty obvious to me that they didn’t change the sheet metal part of the roof. They may have slightly re-contoured the roof liner and molding around the window, allowing for slightly more helmet access. It could be 1 mm for all we know, but Ford will still claim that gain.
Yes, I agree with these, and I'd add: the subtle lower door line that slopes up and isn't present on the S550, the rear sheetmetal cutout for the rear lights (in side profile view only), the rear hips (although those were similar on the S550 as well), the upward curve of the middle line on the...
I'm OK with the 500 hp DH. It won't be any faster than a GT in a straight line, but it makes good power for a factory NA engine - a tad more than the LT2 in the C8 (although a lot less torque). The GT w/AE at 486 hp is higher than I expected.
The S650 is just a S550 with new sheetmetal and dash. It’s a poor attempt at a new Gen.
The front and rear overhangs are entirely too long. They look absolutely silly, that front overhang is like a front wheel drive proportion, I think it just looks awful. And thanks to the OP for pointing out...
I suppose Ford could offer options. But I don’t think the DH power bump is going to be very substantial over a GT. Sort of like the Mach 1/Bullitt hp bump—it didn’t really make them much if any quicker in acceleration over a regular GT.
If I was Ford, I’d just make people buy the more expensive...
In a second video of the C8, a blue one if I recall, Thomas said it was one of the best handling cars he's ever driven. The first C8 they drove (probably a pre-production one) had the understeer problem. The production version they drove in track alignment, they liked very much.
And as stated...
It is very easy to get people excited about ZL1, Z06, and ZR1. They are well known trim levels of high-performance American sports cars. Z28 is also a historic trim of Camaro that people know. I agree the others you listed aren't as known, but to be fair, Z51, Z07, 1LE, etc., are just packaged...
Eh. The overhangs are fundamentally bad design. The front overhang is LONGER than the rear overhang. That's not supposed to happen in a front engine RWD car. It looks like a FWD car, except it has a better dash to axle ratio.
