I don't know for 100%, but it seems logical that they are only issued a Compliance Cert - once they have "Complied" with Customs and Aust Standards (which would be pre-approved), and are finally cleared to go.
Hopefully it will be AFTER today - to pick up a March Compliance.
Outright, unless the Auto Finance Interest rate is less than the interest rate available in a reasonable Savings Account (5%+), (and I was I Finance Broker!)
It's probably a Demo, and the slight price drop could be that most of the enthusiast market have already ordered one new.....and many of us are still.....waiting.....!!.
As previously indicated , my Dealer stated Ford are hoping for a mid to late March release from Quarantine (at the earliest)- then the NSW cars to be shipped to Pt Kembla, and then by truck / Transporter to the Dealers.
I can empathise, however it would be a shame to cancel now, when it is (hopefully) so close !
Although alternatively you could also cancel this one and try your luck ordering a fresh new one....
All good points, and it makes sense to ship all the NSW cars to Pt Kembla for de-contamination if there is less congestion, as they will have to ship them there anyway. However that would presumably require the explicit approval and cooperation of the Fed "Public Servants" at Customs.
Like you, I somehow doubt that - so we are probably looking at potentially Deflated and Flat-Spotted Tyres, Accelerated UV and Salt Air Damage and Corrosion from prolonged open exposure (on the warf), Degraded Battery, Stale Fuel or Out Of Fuel .....and of course Depreciation on a MY24.5...
Hi Brumby, glad you got your Mustang, and in hindsight I should have also stuck with Gateway. Anyway, I will look forward to catching up when I finally get mine! Cheers mate.
Looks like LATE March at the earliest for the Melbourne Quarantined Tortugas / Tosca NSW Mustangs!
From my Dealer today - and I suspect this is an optimistic estimate:
Apparently the plan is to ship the NSW cars back to Pt Kembla after finally escaping Quarantine, then distributed to Dealers...

Yes Deano, the Qube Strike was the catalyst for the comedy of errors, as you say Ford should have just waited, although of course that's easy for us to say in hindsight.
Ford would have been under pressure to find a quick solution, although It's odd that the cars were not off-loaded whilst...
My Dealer emailed me with an update last Monday (as below), stating there are 940 cars still in Quarantine!
"just chased up Ford again this morning and it seems like they are still going through the cleaning and quarantine process on the Mustangs that have landed. Still approximately 940...
I just checked Compliance on mine, which is tragically currently still held captive in Pt Melbourne Customs, and the Compliance has not been issued (here RAV Public Search). So presumably Compliance is issued after Customs clearance.
