Install help - RTR schroth quickfit harness

Having difficulty installing quickfit belt into the driver side lap belt anchor point on my s650 - has anyone successfully installed this in their ‘24+ mustang? The lap belt anchor point is blocked by driver side b-pillar trim which I’m hesitant to start pulling out because it’s plastic and feels it would break easily.

Hey Will, completely understand the feeling of some of those plastic parts feeling like they may break but in order to access the anchor bolt you'll have to remove those trim pieces. If you have a trim removal tool, that could potentially be helpful in this process. I got one back in 2018, upgrading my Raptor Stereo. I never thought I'd use a trim removal kit more than 2 times but it's come in handy at least a dozen times since. You'll definitely use the trim removal kit with FAR less collateral damage than a putty knife, screw driver or improvised flat edge to pry with. :-)

I self installed the Schroth/RTR Quickfit Pro's (Driver & passenger) in my 2024 Mustang approx. 2 months ago (give or take). The direction (written by Schroth) have not been updated in years. The latest addendum in the directions references 6th gen. Mustangs. Schroth needs to step up to the plate and insert addendums were needed with applicable details for 7th gen. S-650's. Moving on to some good news. The RTR/Quickfit harnesses (standard & pro) are a perfect fit for S-650's. A few head scratching moments are required.

As far as trim removal. The trim & fasteners may appear fragile however the likelihood of breakage during removal is very low. I consider the following tip "Top Shelf" - Do not attempt removal of interior panels/trim on a cold interior. Doing so drastically increases the odds of trim and fasteners breakage. Here are few obvious options to avoid cold trim removal, warm weather, heated garage, start and run vehicle until interior trim is warm to the touch (keep engine running with heat on until complete). Same applies to reinstallation.

You will feel more comfortable after carefully & successfully ripping the first trim panel off.

I forgot to mention one thing in my previous post. If you've completed the install you more than likely discovered the B-Pillar panels must be trimmed to allow the harness to exit toward the front of the vehicle.

See photo below. The view in the photo is backseat looking toward the drivers side B-Pillar. Photo left is rear and right is front of vehicle. The red arrows are pointing to the area I removed from the panel. The blue arrow shows the harness exiting the B-Pillar connection point angled toward the front of vehicle. Panel trimming is fairly easy with a Dremel tool. My process was remove a little material, test fit, repeat process etc.. until panel popped back in place without touching harness end/connector. Trimming the panel cannot be avoided.
