I can't deny it, watching fellow members get their new S650 Mustang's over the last couple of months has had me green with envy.

My day actually started with me feeling sore and sorry for myself, I didn't sleep very well, and neck pain is giving me grief again. After breakfast and a strong coffee, I got in the car for a trip to the bank, the Stihl dealer and then off to the Ford dealer to leave my number plates and touch base again, in that order.

In actual fact, I had only ever spoken in person with my salesman twice, first was on the 21st of September 2022 when I put down a deposit for a new Mustang. I then sat with him on the 30th of October 2023 when Ford released pricing for the new Mustang. All other correspondence has been by phone, text message or email, which suits me just fine.

Standing in the bank to be served was an exercise in frustration, always is. On my way out of the bank and the Stihl dealer next on the agenda, I took a glance at my phone and spotted something that took my breath away!

That picture was taken seconds after delivery. If I had gone to the dealer first instead of the bank, I would have seen the car being driven off the truck! Safe to say, I didn't go to the Stihl dealer next! I messaged back and said I would be arriving in a few minutes!

As I walked into the showroom, I spotted the car sitting in the delivery bay, the salesman collecting all of the build sheets and window sticker. As he walked towards me, I started to choke up and was nearly brought to tears................................after 765 days, or 2 years and 25 days, my new car landed at my local Ford dealer!

The car is dirty, as expected, but oh so sweet in person. As others have noted, pictures don't do the S650 justice. Compared to the S550, this new Mustang is sharper and tauter looking. Those blacked out headlights are soooo good, especially comparing to the non-black pack Mustang that was also delivered today. I still hate the wheels, they block the view to the red Brembo calipers that come standard with Magneride.

I also got the opportunity to fire up the engine for the first time, and a few cheeky blips of the throttle with the exhaust in track mode. Compared to my S550, its a little tame, so I may end up swapping out the suitcase resonator for an X-Pipe, I actually love the standard angled exhaust tips.

After an extended chat and walk around the car, I also got to meet the detailer in person to go over what I wanted and to show him over the Flow number plate brackets. They will wash the car as normal, I want it presentable and any issues noticed/sorted before delivery. I know a lot of guys say "DONT TOUCH IT", but I would rather anything wrong noticed before I hand over the cheque. There will be no polishing either, which he understood after I explained my background. I feel like I'm in safe hands.

Being mid-week and the detailer away on Friday, I was happy to have the car delivered next Tuesday, I want it done right. There is probably more to say but I'm so wired at the moment!

I can't believe this is actually happening!

As mentioned, the salesman grabbed the window sticker and production line papers before they went in the bin. I mean, they are meaningless to most and only the very die-hard car guys would get a kick out of this, but its nice to have. I'll be making copies of the S550 versions and will send the originals with the car for the new owner.

Very happy for you Deyon.
After such a long wait, it's a bit surreal, isn't it?

The Race Red and Black Pack is a great looking combination. :like:
(I still reckon the front pony should stay chrome to contrast against the grille - 1st world problems!)

I'm jealous you got the window sticker... I did not.
My dealer (part of a group of dealers) has their vehicle PD done off site, and by the time I asked to keep it, it was already removed and destroyed. :frown:
I was probably 36 hours too late to ask.
It's a nice little keepsake to have though.

Looks like your leave was well timed... get some odd jobs out of the way, and then time to enjoy your new toy.

I would rather a chrome pony as well, but I'm not going to complain, I could aways change it in the future. First thing to go will be the chrome lugs though.

I was at breaking point and made the call two weeks ago to start my leave, with or without the car. My week starts on a Wednesday, so it was kinda meant to be turning up today. The stress I've been under sort made the decision for me, my body was (and still is) saying STOP. I've spent the last few days just pleasing myself rather than following someone else's commands or time schedule.

Well, with how it all played out, I didn't officially get to order those options with all the cards on the table. As in, I didn't know how much each option was going to cost me, so it was a somewhat blind order based off the request for desired specs that happened way back in Jan-Feb 2023. Would have chosen Magneride if I knew the retail cost of it? Probably, for the red calipers alone! What I'm trying to say is, I didn't really go and sit down and place an official order with the salesman, not that it was his fault, rather Ford Australia's lack of interest in selling anything but a ladder-frame pickup truck or SUV.

Anyway, that's all in the past now, the car exists and is a mere couple of days away from being mine. I'm also delighted with the spec I "chose", and that I managed to squeeze in the Black Pack before it was discontinued.

(Also, I only just realized something went wrong with my image edits, I had two years to get that post right! )

D, I was planning on giving my Mustang it's first wash this Sunday - the first day expected without showers/storms up here in a week.

It was obviously washed in PD, but has road film on it from the ~300km done so far.

Was planning on the following procedure:

I can skip the interior vacuum.

• Apply Brake Buster to dry wheel (I've been using my second cheapo foam cannon exclusively for this, but I think this consumes way too much product. Might forgo the foaming and simply use the Kwazar spray bottle)
• Brush tyre & wheel with the various brushes
• Rinse wheel
• Move onto the next wheel...

• Foam cannon Carpro Lift onto dry vehicle (first pre-wash seems begging for the higher ph?)
• Rinse off

• Foam cannon GSF or Carpro Reset (will flip a coin)
I haven't previously used the foam cannon a second time to apply the contact wash shampoo, I'd normally just pour it into the bucket of water. Seems a good time to try something different... and I like playing with the foam cannon. :giggle: The Griot's cannon with metering tip and being able to screw product bottle on directly makes for a fairly quick process.

• Contact wash with Cyclone wash pad (I do 2 bucket method)
• Rinse off

• Blow dry with leaf blower (loving the Ego 765 with 2.5Ah battery!)
Not sure how this will go, and don't expect the water to blow off like it would with a coated car.
Might have to resort to the Bowden's Big Green Sucker towel, which I've always found very effective and liked using in the past.

• Apply Bead Maker - subsequent blow dries with the Ego will work well

• Apply Darkside to tyres

• Might wipe over the interior with P&S Swift, for the hell of it.

• Invisible Glass on the windows, in & out - these definitely need doing.
The Stoner Reach & Clean tool will get to prove it's value on it's maiden use!

Obviously not up to your detailing level, but any thoughts on the above?

Of course it was dirty...in DFB5.0's eyes especially. :cwl: Congratulations!

I'm sure this car will remain in best of shape....even better than when it left the factory.
