So do you just refuel at the track at their high prices or leave and come back?

In the beginning (when I'd drive car to track events), I used the gas pumps at the tracks. Yea, it was costly, but convenient and less of a hassle. Closest gas station to RA I believe is about 2 mi. up in Elkhart Lake.
