DarkHorse HP Recaro vs Premium Seating.

Just gonna say it plainly, I live in Odessa, TX and it has, for the most part, been over 100° EVERY FRIGGIN' DAY (almost) for a month!!! The fact that in 2024 if you want to pay $2000 extra for the incredibly eye catching styling and unparalleled comfort of a set of Recaros in your Mustang, Dark Horse especially, you better be ready to not receive ANY premium features with those seats, now this is my own personal experience with new Mustangs, so perhaps it's always been this way. Being "sport seats" I can totally understand the speed and convenience of not having to wait 30 seconds just to adjust your power seats to your liking. But at the same time, the Missing heating and cooling feels like such a downgrade and an unnecessary one at that! Nothing says you've got the pinnacle of Comfort and Quality in a Brand New, fresh off the show room, Mustang Dark Horse HP, like Recaro Seats... unless you want Heating and Cooling then of course you should have paid less... lol.

Rant over.. unless someone wants to trade me some DarkHorse Premium seats! Lol.

Well, 2 things work in your favor to ... “work around” this deficiency

1) the most powerful A/C system I’ve ever had or experienced, short of a walk in freezer
2) remote start.

I’m southeast of S/A, and we just had a week over 100+ and have over 30 days total. The 2 highest were 112 - when the house A/C capacitor gave up (one side, other side was cool) and 108.

I had the Mustang out both days, and had to turn the AC up to around 72-73 to stay warm.
Do I want the heated/cooled seats, like the ones in my Raptor or wife’s Lincoln? Sure. But the Recaros are adequate.

I do think the Recaro “optioning” was a bit awkward; you give up memory seating, mirrors, presets, no vents, no heat. They’re seriously charging 2 large MORE for this?
<queue the ‘get off my lawn’ accusations>

I like them once they’re in place but the Recaros do lack the fine adjustability. I’d have gone for a car without them, but I got Black Betty for almost 5k under MSRP so ... I’ll deal with the Recaros

But yeah it's just an odd choice by Ford, but then again all I have to go off of in terms of Recaro comfort as a seat vs the premium seating is the Prem's in my 2024 GT Performance Pack, wouldn't have even traded it for a DarkHorseHP had it come with the 401A package, but the dealership I ordered through messed up in the ordering process, and once it arrived it was not only dark outside when the truck unloaded it.. the saleswoman said it was fully loaded and perfectly came the way I wanted, by the next morning I realized I should have done a more thorough walk-through of it.. no B&O, etc..

Digressing though, the GT's seats were awesome they just didn't have any side support and the cooling sucked! I know it's just ventilation so it needs A/C on to be effective but the fans themselves sucked!

I heard that the DarkHorse Premium seats, due to differing materials and upgraded fans, have incredible heating and cooling inside! Which has left me wondering if I didn't make a mistake!
Kind of like ordering the Handling Pack on the DarkHorse not realizing I was going to scrape that damn thing on the ground every day the first week!
It's barely, if at all, 3" off the ground lol!

But I'm with ya 100% my thoughts exactly.

But then again.. Cloth vs Leather vs Suede Leather is a pretty big difference when it's the majority of contact material for your back, like the Recaros in my DH/HP Never make my back sweat because the Suede Leather has sport material behind for more blue color seen through the perforations and just isn't as contact sweaty as smooth leather.. Now the only seats I haven't come in contact with are the Dark Horse Premiums which are supposed to be Cloth Contact material for your back which vastly improves the Heating and Cooling abilities of the seats.. The premium seats in a GT suck at getting any cool air through them unless you're out of the car not blocking the perforations.. The Recaros in the regular GT I'm not too sure of..

Dinamica inserts are on the dark horse premium seats which is the very same material on the dark horse Recaro seats. The primary difference in that Dinamica holds up longer than the rest of the materials offered but the material does not vastly improve heating / ventilation capabilities. As someone who formerly oversaw these kinds of objective tests It may feel like it does, but the coverage isn't what you would expect. It's mostly subjective at that point.

If we're talking what is the best value for the dark horse then not getting Recaro's ($2000 upcharge) on the premium dark horse is the way to go since you're also losing premium features (memory, heat, vent and integrated turn signals in your sideview mirrors) but still paying for it.

I ordered a base dark horse HP with Recaro's because the seating surface is the same material as the premium and I don't need or want memory, heat or vent in my seats since it's mostly a track car. Now the base dark horse seats come with the same cloth/vinyl seats as the 301A GT but with different coloring. What will I miss from the premium package? the aluminum pedals and the leather trim pieces on my dash but those individual pieces can easily be added after I take delivery for less than $500 which is far less than the $5000 700A upcharge.

If I were driving my vehicle out on the streets often, I would be opting for the premium dark horse no recaros since it also includes stuff like anti-theft, wheel locks etc..

So I've had my DarkHorse for a minute now... I Custom ordered it and bought the DH-Premium w/HP..
Instead of trying to explain it.. just gonna post "the Moroni"
