I’m hoping someone may have had a similar occurrence and can point me to the cause of the clicking sound coming from the left rear suspension on my 2024 GT PP.
A little background on the car mods and use. For the rear suspension I have Steeda Progressive springs, Steeda adjustable sway bar, AAD camber arms, MMR toe links, Steeda subframe bushings, Steeda subframe alignment dowels, and Steeda subframe braces. In the same general area, but unlikely to be involved in the noise, I have the Watson Racing bolt in 4 point cage and MMR differential cooler kit, which has a fan and pump.
I last drove the car at Barber Motorsport Park and had no issues or noises all weekend. When I arrived home and unloaded the car from the trailer I first noticed the clicking noise as it rolled off the ramps. The car was tied down to the trailer by the wheels, not the chassis. The car has been in my shop since for various maintenance, and I have rechecked the torque on all rear suspension items. All suspension bolts were tightened with the car at ride. The noise only occurs when rolling over bumps, but once it clicks a few times, I can stop the car and reproduce the sound by bouncing the rear of the car up and down. The problem is, I have put the car up on wheel cribs and then it no longer makes the sound when bouncing. Also, I’ve driven the car on ramps and it won’t make the sound. I’ve tried to determine the source by looking under the car while someone bounces it, but short of isolating it to the left rear, I can’t figure out the source. Since it won’t make the sound on ramps or wheel cribs, I can’t get under the car while it’s making the noise.
I’m linking a video where I drove the car back and forth over the camera so you can hear the sound. Unfortunately, to roll fast enough to generate the sound means the video isn’t very useful, but it does give the audio. If anyone has experience with something similar, I would love to know what you determined to be the source.
