Not a fan. Not because I am opposed to tech, but the lack of styling cues, of any kind. As mentioned above, without the logos on the wheel and passenger side, it could be anything recent. For what itās worth, I drove a friendās Model 3 and did not like the tablet in the centre design in that either.
Notwithstanding the current terminology, when I was a teenager (some 45 years ago) rims were the things the tires went on, as in āThose Cragar SS rims you put on your car are the coolest!ā
Will people want to spend the money on the HPP package and be happy with the A10? I took an auto because it suited my cruiser intentions for the car. If I was looking at a coupe with performance in mind Iād be wanting a stick.
Re the family thing. Mustang has not had any Ford badging for awhile. I can easily see them leaving Ford branding for the trucks and Mustang having our cars, a sedan (when they come back in fashion) and the Mach E, even more so as the ICE disappears in favour of electric.
I find the fogs are handy on very dark roads, as they light up the edges better than just h/lights alone. I also use them on rainy nights here on the highways, as the lane markings seem to disappear under those conditions and, again, the fogs do a good job of lighting them up.
Iām meh on exterior, and agree with those who suggested S550 will be pinnacle of design, with a nice cross of modern with historical styling cues. Interior is definitely a ānoā for me. I like my digital dash and dual cowl look much better. I understand that giant screens are how we are going...
I see the problem as trying to apply a nearly 60 year old name tag to a modern vehicle. The original was light, inexpensive and fun. I would even suggest that the ā71-ā73 had moved away from being a real pony car, with a curb weight a half ton more than the original. It returned with the Fox...
Iād like to clarify that my comment about not aging well was in reference to the interior (and mostly the dash and centre stack), and not the exterior.
Wholeheartedly agree! I was not particularly a fan of the SN95 but thought the S197 was as good a "retro" styled car as any of the ones that came out in that era. True the interior wasn't great but there were a lot that weren't. It also didn't age well, looking very tired by 2014 and the S550...
I don't think the S197 Mustang was any more plasticky or cheap looking than the Camaro of that time...oh wait, Chevy didn't make Camaros for most of that run. That aside, I'm sure that girl is way too young to remember when cars still had steel panels showing in the dash.
I'm approaching 59 and expect that I will drive the current car for the next 20 years, as a fair weather car in retirement. Our 2015 Rogue will perhaps get replaced at some point, maybe 10 years, and it may very well be replaced by a full on EV. Beyond the 20 year horizon, I don't know, and am...
My plan is to be retired before the S650 arrives, so my current car will become a garage queen. Plus, unless they bring out a colour nicer than Royal Crimson, what would be the point.
Me amongst them. My 20 YO son who is about 5'8" has sat back there on occasion without complaining. Of course, the convertible with the top up has more headroom than the coupe. I'd rather not have someone behind me but I have done it. I just have my legs bent a little more than I like.
