  1. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I would probably buy anything designed by Kemal Curic!! Regarding the Aviator, my local Ford dealer is building a new Lincoln showroom. My wife works at the dealership and I strongly suggested to her that the Aviator will be a grand slam. It is stunning...and just what Lincoln needed to compete...
  2. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

IMHO...I believe the overall size, dimensions and weight of next generation Mustang could and should be relatively comparable to specifications the of the ‘65-‘68 models. The ‘65-‘66 cars offered a compact front end design with relatively little overhang. The ‘67-‘68 models offered a real...
  3. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

IMHO, a smaller and lighter Mustang would have been a move in the right direction.
  4. S650 cancelled?

As mentioned in the 25DEC17 issue of Automotive News, Jim Hackett will be a speaker at the 42nd Annual Automotive News World Congress January 16-17, 2018 in Detroit. I quote: “Hear from the visionary leader at the helm of Ford” Perhaps Mr Hackett will reveal and discuss his plans/goals and...
  5. S650 cancelled?

Agreed... However ^^$$ and must meet safety/crash standards.
  6. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

    I think that was the Dr’s point.:frusty:
  7. S650 cancelled?

Ecoboost plus hybrid is/was part of the future of the Mustang. I could see downsized EB 4 and 6 cylinder engines being offered in the S650. The S650 was supposed to built off of the D6R modular capable of supporting several RWD/FWD/AWD vehicles.
  8. S650 cancelled?

Author seems knowledgeable and in the loop...article seems legitimate. However, would appreciate Ford media release for confirmation. Any thoughts/inside from our Ford “insiders” on the forum. I’ve always believed that Hackett was an unsettling and inappropriate choice for CEO. The Mustang may...
  9. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

The D6 platform is a modular platform with the supposed ability to support various configurations of several different types of vehicles. I cannot think of any reason why the Mustang could not adopt a shorter version of the versatile D6 platform. The long hood / short deck design theme is a...
  10. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Sketch #1 certainly represents the size, dimensions and styling direction I am expecting for the S650. #2 however, looks like an ‘05-‘09 S197 that’s been modified Hot Wheels style...no thanks.
  11. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Great article... Will this technology be understood, accepted and embraced wholeheartedly by the American consumer? Will the average Joe "get it"? Eventually I suppose, we won't have a choice. It's an expensive gamble. The last sentence of the article asks the multi-billion dollar question.
  12. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Agreed. I have always believed for the great majority of consumers, styling rather than performance has been the factor or variable that determines a vehicle purchase. The history of Mustang styling has always incorporated some element of the iconic first generation design. With that being said...
  13. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Topnotch confirmed in July that the S650 would be built on the all-new D6R platform.
  14. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

As usual, Topnotch is doing his best to share any and all of the latest automotive industry information regarding current/future technologies and advanced engineering that will impact future Ford vehicle development...including the Mustang.
  15. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

The scenario mentioned above by Topnotch is not particularly to my liking, but this is the reality of the near future. Other manufacturers will have to get on board and adapt to this "new world order" or free fall into irrelevance and failure. As I've mentioned before... If you want a...
  16. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

V8, V6, I4, Ecoboost, Supercharged, Hybrid or Electric... Myriad governmental, safety and environmental regulations, global industry competition/consumer preferences and demands, multiple engineering/manufacturing/new technology and innovation analyses, material/labor costs, rates of return on...
  17. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

The new D6R modular platform with it's RWD, FWD and AWD capabilty and platform sharing applications for a wide variety of Ford and Lincoln vehicles has me very intrigued. No doubt, it will composed primarily of high-strength aluminum components for weight reduction and will be highly...
  18. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

FYI, foxbusiness.com and other news sources report that after 2019, Geely announced that all Volvo vehicles will be hybrids or fully electric.
  19. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

    Yep...somewhere between 1965-1969. Most likely to '68.
  20. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

It's probably just me but that doesn't sound very promising... But I'll be dead by then anyway. George Jetson, are you out there?
