  1. changed the differential gear oil

If you have the Torsen differential, then friction modifier is not required. It quiets down the differential, but does not help with how the differential functions. I am using Red Line 75W140NS, which is the version without friction modifier. I run the higher weight oil and no friction modifier...
  2. First Time at the Track - Dark Horse - Road America

If it’s like most events I go to, there is usually time between sessions to leave the track and fill up at a local gas station if you want to avoid paying crazy prices at the track. Have fun!
  3. First Time at the Track - Dark Horse - Road America

I carry 6 - 5.5 gallon fuel jugs and refuel after every session. I fill up the jugs away from the track.
  4. First Time at the Track - Dark Horse - Road America

I use about 18 gallons per hour on track running 93. The tank is 16 gallons, and you really don’t want to get it much below 1/4 tank. If there are long left hand sweepers you can have fuel starvation if you have less than half a tank with the stock fuel pump. 2 twenty minute sessions is the...
  5. Just got a recall 2024 Mustang - 26C40 ENGINE HARNESS GROUND EYELET REPLACEMENT

Here's my take on the whole recall and Ford quality gripes. 1. Our (myself included) perspective is skewed by our personal experience. If I get a car with a ton of problems and recalls, my perception is going to be that the quality of the brand is awful. If I get a car with no problems...
  6. Change seatbelt for different color

I haven't checked into it, but that would be the route I would choose if I were looking to change the belt color.
  7. S650 Magneride unlocked by DSC Sport Controller ❗️

LOL. I've already signed up for notification when it's available. However, I am most likely going to take the leap to coilovers, which would make this unnecessary. We'll see.
  8. Change seatbelt for different color

If you are replacing the whole seat belt assembly, then yes, you will not have the pretensioner.
  9. Change seatbelt for different color

The seat belt system has a pretensioner system with a pyrotechnic charge that ignites in the event of an accident. That is tied into the vehicle's computer, so if it is disconnected I expect you will receive a warning on the restraint system and you will be giving up the safety feature of the...
  10. Inferred vs Actual Oil Temperature - Results

I switched from Motorcraft 5w-50 Synthetic, a hydrocracked crude (Group 3), to Red Line 5w-50, an Ester (Group 5) and PAO (Group 4).
  11. Inferred vs Actual Oil Temperature - Results

I’m fine with 280 running an ester based oil and changing it every 6-8 hours.
  12. Inferred vs Actual Oil Temperature - Results

I change oil after 2-3 track days (approximately 6-8 hours on track). FYI, my oil life monitor showed it was time for an oil change mid day on day 3.
  13. Inferred vs Actual Oil Temperature - Results

Update from days 2 & 3 at Road Atlanta. More of the same thing I saw on day 1, although the high oil temperature from both days was 276 where I hit 280 on Friday. Temps via the AEM gauge and inferred reading on the dash were about as close as you could hope for. I never saw more than a 5...
  14. Anyone Else Amazed at the 10R80 in the S650 vs S550?

    1. As far as I have found, there is only the temp bar on the dash, which I assume is displaying coolant temp. There is no detailed readout. I’ve heard people say there is only a cylinder head temperature probe and the coolant temperature is inferred. However the repair guide refers to an engine...
  15. Anyone Else Amazed at the 10R80 in the S650 vs S550?

Coolant temps are shown to be reduced by 26 degrees when running water wetter per specs. I’ve not really monitored CHT previously, so I don’t have anything to compare with for the current temps. I’ve never had the car go into limp mode due to high CHT. I imagine you could loop the coolant lines...
  16. Anyone Else Amazed at the 10R80 in the S650 vs S550?

The transmission fluid and coolant flow into the heat exchanger in the front of the transmission. Water Wetter with distilled water gives about a 26 degree drop versus a 50/50 coolant mix. With the water temp lower flowing into the heat exchanger it should also reduce the transmission fluid temp.
  17. Inferred vs Actual Oil Temperature - Results

I have the OEM oil cooler included with the performance package.
  18. Anyone Else Amazed at the 10R80 in the S650 vs S550?

Funny you should ask. I was considering posting after today’s track sessions at Road Atlanta. Highest transmission temperature I saw today was 210. On my trip in June/July to VIR, Watkins Glen and Summit Point trip I think the highest I saw was 221. I’m thinking the lower temperatures I saw...
  19. Inferred vs Actual Oil Temperature - Results

Results from today’s track sessions at Road Atlanta. This is with Red Line 5w-50. Session 1. Forgot to make notes and can’t remember exact temps. Session 2. Ambient Temp: 84 degrees. Observed high oil temp while driving per AEM gauge was 267 with inferred temperature showing 264. High oil...
