  1. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

Realistically, a standard 220/240 outlet doesn't cost that much to setup, especially something barebones right off the box. Also, before I went remote, there was no way I was home in 30 minutes on Long Island :cwl:. You're totally right about the grid though. We are totally going to see...
  2. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

I think that Kia is boring because it's a KUV, not because it's an EV/hybrid. If she rolled up in one of these, those DEA agents would be creaming their pants. For the record, I'm against EV's right now. Battery tech, the infrastructure, etc aren't there yet. I don't have any hang-ups...
  3. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

At the very least it will listen when you ask it, "can you please take me home?"
  4. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

The vroomvroom at WOT and the dudhdudhdudhdudhdudhdudh at idle. The way you can feel the engine respond, they way it makes power across the rev range. Being able to listen, feel, and even smell what the car is up to, and if something is wrong.
  5. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

The best part will be when you forget why you told the car to take you there
  6. “Next Gen” Mustang Will be Electric (EV) Only Claims Autoline

Two, maybe three times. It's not a built in limit so much as the physics of batteries. They can only go full stink when everything is in the exact right condition. Not too hot, not too cold, at or close to full charge, etc. Another way to beat EV's is from a highway roll. Yes it's a little...
  7. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

    Don't need a napkin, Ford has a patent! https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-patent-application-awd-hybrid-v8/
  8. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

I think the batteries will be adequately insulated so as to prevent excessive fires in the event of a collision. Karen will crash it, but it shouldn't burn
  9. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

My "napkin engineering" guess is that the difference is analogous to a coupe vs. convertible in terms of complexity. The biggest structural hurdle would be placing the battery pack "surfboard" found in many EV's. Imagine needing to accommodate a driveshaft tunnel along the entire interior...
  10. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

I also want to throw out there that part of the GT350's pricetag is to pay for the badging...
  11. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

Yeah I've driven early s197's. There's no comparison. Same thing with my Charger. I've driven the early Chrysler 300's. "Same platform", worlds apart as vehicles.
  12. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

Wouldn't be surprised if they use CD6 for the 8th gen, especially if the 7th gen uses some components from it. D2C has now been used for two generations. It was already a decade old when the s550 program started. That's almost 20 model years across 5th and 6th gen.
  13. Report: Next gen S650 Mustang will have full 8 year life cycle

The real question is if the 100th anniversary will have a v8?
  14. Mustang S650 Design Previewed by ‘Progressive Energy In Strength’ Sculpture

Looks like it's being sucked into a black hole to me. Is Ford building a personal spacecraft?!
  15. Mustang S650 Design Previewed by ‘Progressive Energy In Strength’ Sculpture

Are we not teaching reading comprehension in school anymore? You traded a year old car, that had already lost 28% of it's value. I stated that after the 3 year warranty is up, the 4 series would be worth half. That's how depreciation works. Good luck with the car, and life.
  16. Mustang S650 Design Previewed by ‘Progressive Energy In Strength’ Sculpture

Riiiiiggghht. Have you looked at Kia's high end vehicles lately? They cost more than a Mustang. Are Mustang's for the poors now? The well documented rapid depreciation of BMW's relative to literally every other vehicle is not an opinion, it is a measurable fact. That $65k car will be worth...
  17. Report: S650 Mustang To Use Unique Platform with CD6 Architectural Bits

About as relevant to a conversation about road cars as F1 motors and moon rockets.
  18. Report: S650 Mustang To Use Unique Platform with CD6 Architectural Bits

To be fair an F1 engine doesn't last a whole season, let alone the length of a standard powertrain warranty. There are more analogous motors to the GT500 in the pro drag circuit. They can't even be dyno'd because: 1. Every dyno in the world would break 2. The engine would burn out before...
