The races in which the GT500 loses to an AWD car are mostly drag races. GT500 has done a pretty good job at spanking cars around a track. I don't think Ford gives two shits about losing drag races to AWD "competitors". And you're off base - the Mustang's competition is dead or dying. No doubt...
