Today's manuals have too many gears to be considered fun to drive (my opinion). I used to like shifting a four speed, but six would be a chore.

A better idea would be to deposit whatever the premium is in an investment account. That way you could withdraw money for repairs if needed. If not needed, you get to keep the money with interest.

I hear ya, but the fact is the entire extended warranty industry is based on the certainty that customers are going pay in way more than they will receive in claims. As you noted, it's a crap shoot - with long odds against the customer.

Extended warranty = waste of money. Better to put the money in an investment account.
