  1. Start stockpiling parts for your s650 immediately

The so called Drunk-o-meter has been discussed for about 10 years. There are three detriments to its passing. First the technology is iffy at best. We know this because of the failure rate of the current blow in the tube units (false negative/positive failures are over 25%). Passive ones? I...
  2. Emergency brake light, how do you do that?

I believe that is part of a NHTSA mandate. It dates back to an accident where a driver laid for nearly a week before someone noticed her and her car which has rolled down an embankment. She survived incidentally. I find it difficult to imagine the system turning on (flashing lights, horn beeps...
  3. StangHI DFW - Steeda Stop The Hop Kit, Vertical Links and Adjustable Toe Links

Quality work including the use of Inspector paint. Darn few installers do that these days.
  4. Don't get hit by a turkey doing 70mph!

Oops! I've heard about ducks, geese, and even a few antlered animals colliding with a vehicle, but a turkey?
  5. Start stockpiling parts for your s650 immediately

As I mentioned, the on-line false story about facial recognition was the same source as the Drunk-o-meter story. There are tons more fake on-line stories about proposed NHTSA regulations. All one has to do, is to go to the NHTSA's site, and look up what is actually on the docket. All of us hate...
  6. Start stockpiling parts for your s650 immediately

The NHTSA has NOT! passed any new regulations requiring FR. At least yet. I suspect it is in the cards, but nonetheless the on-line story is false! Incidentally, the on-line story about requiring so-called Drunk-o-meters is also false. On the slate, but not approved, are several safety-related...
  7. Coyote/S650 Derangement Syndrome

“Exceptio probat regulam de rebus non exceptis”
  8. Drag Mode

The Drag Mode shifts are brutal enough to shake loose some fillings! They're also rather hard on the innards, so don't use it as a daily driver setting.
  9. S650 Recall for water intrusion

I searched for a newer TSB, but I didn't find any. Considering all the comments, I suspect there isn't a later TSB. By the way, not all dealers (or their personnel) are up to date. One service writer actually told me I couldn't X the tires on my Ranger because they were omnidirectional...
  10. S650 Recall for water intrusion

This has been covered here several times. Do a quick search. Here is sone more off the net:
  11. Software update 4/24/26

I received another software update this morning. I know this, because the "MyColors" changed. I may be incorrect, but it appears to set the Engine Idle Shutoff to opt in, rather than opt out. Has anyone else noticed this?
  12. S650 Recall for water intrusion

You might want to look for the TSB dates about this fix. As I recall, the 'original' fix wasn't adequate, but the later ones (after a lull addressing the fix) does indeed cure the issue. And, I haven't heard of anyone having the issue crop back up after the correct fix.
  13. Engine parts from Whipple upgrade - any value in used market?

I agree, however there are parts not worth saving. For example, fasteners, especially plastic ones, are typically one use items, as are rubber hoses in some cases. Picking and choosing the items is difficult!
  14. Air intake suggestions / recommendations?

Back in the day, the real trick setup was to slap 3 Stromberg 97s atop a 239 CI Mercury flathead, add an Isky cam, a set of finned Offy heads, and a set of Lake headers. It looked great, but boy howdy! You still ended up with an over carbureted, lumpy idling, fuel thirsty, and loud as hell...
  15. S650 Darkhorse and the Limited Edition 60th Anniversary value comparison

A few days ago, a life vest from the Titanic sold for ≈$900,000! The original cost was less than $2. The king of the hill of automobiles was (is) the Bugatti Type 57SC which fetched ≈$40 million a few years ago. The original cost was ≈$8,000. Mustang serial number 1, whose original sticker was...
  16. Marketing Does Have A Sense of Humor

I haven't owned a Honda for almost seven years. Yet, I still get monthly mailings from the local dealer with all sorts of service offers, and deals on new ones. They all say words to the effect... Hurry as this deal won't last forever! Really? Been going on for 30 years, and it is almost over?
  17. The Coyote of Justice is on the prowl

The questions remain.... Does it really matter if police vehicles are marked or unmarked? I don't think so. If you have a visible radar detector on your dash, does that mean you're a scofflaw? In a word, no! Do people who drive like idiots only do so once in a while? No, they always drive like...
  18. The Coyote of Justice is on the prowl

Everything in these parts are F150s and Explorers with the 3.7L air breathers. The NMHP has a few Mustangs, but those are all along I-40. Since you sorta brought this up... I want to know how a heepy-cheapie Kia four banger can out accelerate a 3.7L V6, and darn near outrun one?
  19. Where manuals at? (I'm angry all the time)

I'm old enough to remember when drivers chiding other drivers about their power steering and power brakes as being for sissies. And I remember (I believe it was Csaba Csere?) who quipped about ABS (sic) 'Oh great! Now drivers can slid through a slick intersection straight ahead!' Nowadays manual...
  20. Voice Recognition Radio PIN

If you didn't set one, the only other issue might be SiriusXM?
