By chance, were you turning when you experieced this behavior? Your Mustang is optioned with the PP which means you have a Torsen diiferential (no clutch packs). I would not rule out the possibilty of the Torsen diff. causing this behavoir.

What @Sofa King said is the answer. Wheel and tire cleaning products tend to add to the quick surface rust. The brake pad surfaces will knock that ugly rust off in a jiffy.

Did you order a Ford Performance/Whipple Stage 1? If yes, the 8-12 week lead time doesn't add up unless the delay is due to the FP software issue. Not knowing the exact voltage of your battery prior to charging makes an accurate time to full charge hard to determine. A 70Ah battery can take up to 50 hours to charge with a 1.25 amp maintainer.
