Couldn’t have said it better. Those dual rates dropped my car almost 1” at all 4 corners. I run 19” wheels still and car sits perfect for what I wanted. No negatives whatsoever, quiet, more control, slightly stiffer but by no means harsh or uncomfortable. I drive my car as a toy and run it hard...
I don’t pretend to be an expert with any of this, was told as long as I had a fuel pump voltage booster I’d be on inside edge of safe with 3.625”. I’ll ultimately swap in the 3.750” that came with Stage 2 stuff. Just wanted to try it out for fun. Where I live ethanol fuel isn’t that common...
Installed the 112mm TB w/intake boot, 3.625” pulley, and the canned Whipple Stage 2 tune last weekend. Sticking with 93 octane only. Need to find some time to get on a dyno. First impression; rowdier and boost comes on sooner in RPM range.
What are you making at wheels now?
Currently stage 1 Whipple setup I made 671hp but suspect the speed limiter robbed me of a few ponies. Stock exhaust except for resonator delete.
Have the Stage 2 stuff (120mm TB and Whipple stage 2 canned tune) ready to go in, impatiently waiting on a 3.650”...
At the risk of dating myself, I also don’t care that the Auto cars are faster. The visceral experience with a good manual adds to my overall enjoyment of a car. Tremec Dark Horse is probably the easiest to drive in traffic as any manual trans car I’ve ever had. added benefit is I find WAY less...
According to what I just got back from my inquiry the Whipple tune for Stage 2 takes limiter from 155mph to 186mph. I asked for it in writing from Whipple directly. We shall see what I get back.
Based on the original question in this post and the various numbers out there. I’m more curious now...
I reached out for some answers to the Stage 2/ Stage 3 question about speed limiter parameters in the tunes for these packages. Should get some answers Monday and will order the recommended parts and pieces. More to follow
Anyone on here have Stage 2 or Stage 3 that can confirm speed limiter question?
I'm going to order up some stuff and be the guinea pig for this experiment. Is this the time to add headers? Cars plenty loud enough, but if they help the Whipple exhale more efficiently maybe worth it.
To be clear the Whipple tune still revs out 7,400-ish rpm if I remember correctly, don’t think any different than stock. It was the wheel speed in 5th gear that cut the party short but I wasn’t looking at speedo when on the dyno. Never crossed my mind, after 3 pulls I gave up. The tech running...
When I bought the SC from Steeda they asked me if I wanted a Ford/Whipple or a Whipple version. The hardware is same except for Ford logos, the Ford/Whipple software has a speed limiter and the Whipple software does not. Wasn’t a big deal to me for real world driving, didn’t consider the Dyno...
Good taste! Looking at the comparison hard to believe we have same darkness of tint. I must’ve got talked into going darker, I recall they made me sign something acknowledging the windshield tint is illegal. But I’ve been thinking right along I had 35%?
Here’s some pics of mine 35% sides and rear, 50% on windshield. If I were to do it again I’d have went 70% on windshield. Can feel too dark at night in some situations. During day I almost never need sunglasses unless sun is straight ahead.
Bought my DH December 16, 2023
Track Attack letter February 10, 2024
Dark Horse Owners package came FedEx today June 23, 2025
I never contacted them looking for it, pretty cool either way.
Also haven’t found time to get to Track Attack session in NC, need to focus on getting that scheduled.
I ran mine on a mobile dyno today for fun after driving for a few hours. 3 pulls all within a few HP of each other.. I made my pulls in 5th gear (1:1) and said 671 hp & 545 ft/lbs.
For comparison my buddy ran his bone stock 2021 GT 500 right after me and made one more horsepower than I did...
Wondering if any of you are out here at Hot Rod Power Tour? Pretty much every flavor of Mustang represented, including a bunch of s650’s. Spotted a few other Dark Horses which I’ve never come across around me in CT. Took my first ever pass today at Route 66 Raceway and didn’t completely...
I also have Steeda Dual Rate Springs for Magneride with a Whipple. Just over 1” lower than stock DH w/o handing package. Rides a bit firmer but still plenty comfortable on the road.
No rubbing or issues, just need to be cautious pulling in driveways etc.
