  1. Ford Mustang V8 will be offered for as long as possible

Ford took a huge loss on EVs and it seems that people are discovering how EVs limit their life style. It may not be long until we see a flood of people moving away from EVs back to internal combustion. About the only way to solve it might be to reintroduce the Hybrid.
  2. Ford Mustang V8 will be offered for as long as possible

The big problem Ford will be facing is the EPA is going to start requiring higher fleet milage requirements. Granted Ford will probably be able to keep up for a while with the 10 speed auto and lower rear end ratios but I don't think they will be able to improve the engine fuel consumption much...
  3. Challenger or S650

It seems to be a company design approach. I have a Road Runner and Super Bee early 70s vintage in parts that I can look at. They appear to be a regular passenger car with a really big engine. If you look at the early Vet, T bird and Mustang, they are a small car with a good sized but not huge...
  4. Oil catch can YES or NO?

From what I saw elsewhere, the gurney flap is extra so I don't expect one with mine. In addition, the gurney flap was not recommended for street use so you leave it in the trunk until you get to the track.
  5. How many Mustangs have you had? (a funny story)

That sounds likely because the wing doesn't look like the one Ford used. I used to work just down the street from Saleen in El Toro (now Lake Forest). I seen a mustang that was modified there however I never got closer than the street that was in front of it.
  6. How many Mustangs have you had? (a funny story)

That looks like a 96 but I am not sure about the purple. Ford had a paint about that time that was first available on the Cobra and it change color depending on how the light hit it. I suspect it was pretty rare because it was a costly extra and I don't think I have ever seen one in real life.
  7. How many Mustangs have you had? (a funny story)

As the early mustangs were built on a Falcon platform. 1961 Falcon given about 1968. Received 63 mercury 170 cubic inch engine, manual transmission. 1962 Falcon Futura replaced the 61 about 1972 after 61 was rear ended hard. Engine transplant from 61 with a manual transmission. 1982 Mustang GT...
  8. So what's everyone doing on interior color?

I have the gray in my 96 mustang (only color available on the GT) and 170,000 miles, 27 year latter it still looks pretty good without ever having been detailed cleaned. I have been somewhat careful not to put anything dirty on it but Los Angles smog and normal dust really haven't left a mark...
  9. (PLEASE DELETE!) GT vs RC300 F-Sport AWD

I am not familiar with those transmissions but I asked the same question about the mustangs 6 speeds. The Tremec ends up being a more durable transmission. Next you need to look at the steps between gears. In the mustangs case, the auto 10 speed allows the transmission to pick a better ratio for...
  10. Dealer Add ons

The salesman snuck something called a desert package on my car for a little over 2K. I didn't realize it until I was looking at the paper work latter. I still don't know all that it included but I know of two things. Window tinting which granted might help keep the car cooler but I want more...
  11. What is Dodge up to?

Dodge, Chevy and Ford are all doing last calls. I suspect once the initial hype for EVs tapers off their tune will change. It will come down to having a slow moving stock of EVs while Japan and Europe clean up in the market or getting back in the game. This is looking a lot like the first fuel...
  12. Want a good laugh? Dealer asking $106k for a Dark Horse

I understand part availability figures into it however it seems that Ford has delayed Dark Horse production so it's likely both cards will be produced about the same time unless one needs something that isn't available. Mine is likely to be delayed because it's a premium build needing a few...
  13. Intake Manifold Technical Overview (2024 Mustang GT 5.0L Coyote Engine)

For Ford you have to go back to the 289 engine. Very reliable and common but it had breathing problems. The introduction of the 302 started the race for larger factory passages. Even the 302 wasn't perfect and there were after market intake manifolds with more carburetors and more open passages...
  14. Want a good laugh? Dealer asking $106k for a Dark Horse

Worst that that. They don't even have it in stock yet. The VIN is 604 and my VIN is 680. Last time I looked my build date was 7/22 so it's unlikely that it has been built yet. It just an extremely high dealers premium. False advertising anybody because that picture is a stock picture.
  15. What mods are you planning for your MY24?

WeatherTech floor mats. The ground around here is like talcum powder and it gets ground into carpeting. I got a set for my mother's Edge and they do a really good job of confining the mess to the mats. You then take the mats out, hit them with a hose and you're done.
  16. (PLEASE DELETE!) GT vs RC300 F-Sport AWD

AWD has it's place or they wouldn't still be selling it. There is one problem with applying power to the front of the car and it makes the steering heavy. It's something I don't like or need seeing how few rainy days a year I see but if you see more rain or snow, it might be a trade off you're...
  17. WHOA!

It isn't complex at all. 4 barrel carburetors operated on two barrels until the pedal was pressed beyond a certain point. That would open the other two barrels and unleash all the horse power. It's a simple mechanical linkage and rarely if ever caused a problem. What was complicate is multiple...
  18. Plans for your Mustang?

Daily driver/garage queen/forever car. I guess that needs a little explaining. Currently I am still working at 71 years of age but my commute is 3 miles for about 5k a year. I see the job ending probably within 10 years at which time it will spend most of its time in the garage. but it will...
  19. Gas Guzzler Tax

It might be tied to the Dark Horse. The configurator for that car only allows the 3.55 with the auto.
  20. Gas Guzzler Tax

What bugs me about the tax is the autos have a 3.55 rear end and the manuals have a 3.73 rear end and no changes allowed. The additional gears and the rear end allowed the the car to dodge the tax. The gears in the six speed are so close together that a road car would be be better off with...
