As I mentioned, my hearing isn't the best and I was born with limited hearing. Not enough for hearing aids but not near normal. I couldn't hear much in most of the video but the valves came through loud and clear at the very end.
Very end of the clip is valves. if you listen carefully you will hear a repeating pattern indicating some of the valves are clicking while others are not. You would hear it far better if the valve cover was removed. That is why I am so familiar with it because I have heard engines running with...
As the oil warms, it gets thiner and with lower oil pressure, the lifters get less oil to replenish what leaks out of them under normal operation. I am not sure if you could hear it elsewhere but there is a direct path from the lifters, through the oil return passages to the oil pan for the...
I am not sure it can be manually adjusted because everybody uses hydraulic lifters which are self adjusting. Getting away from manual adjustment means you rarely hear of burnt valves today. It used to be common to send a head off to the shop for a valve job.
Higher viscosity oil or some of the...
The specifications read "Dual port fuel direct injection V8" so that would be port and direct injection for each cylinder. Port injection has been used for years and I know they still use systems with a single injector on retrofits for old carburetor engines, port injection is much more...
I haven't listened to the audio up to now because I wasn't sure my limited hearing would be able to pick up the sound. What I think I am hearing sounds a bit like the static that you hear when you tune between stations on the AM radio band. If that's the case, it's valves and it's nothing to...
A poor work around is auto part stores sell a quick disconnect that looks something like this. It's not a fix for the problem but it might work until you can get to a dealer. Turn it off at night and back on when you need it.
Only other idea I have is to have somebody deliver a loaner to you...
Metal can only be bent so much and complex shape might bunch the metal up or over stress it. They would prefer to use a single sheet of metal but that isn't always possible. When that happens, they spot weld metal together or use a filler part to produce the correct shape.
Sounds like you work on a farm or an oil rig. We tend to forget about those jobs because they are out of sight but are important to us for every day living.
This post is from my professional point of view. I have spent years fixing problems in units that were introduced by other people. Some of the problems were the result of mistakes in the hardware design. For the most part the fixes were fairly simple and were routinely applied when a unit or...
Reading this thread reminds me of my 82 mustang hatch back and I would love it's return. You could really pack the stuff in it and we did. Going to trap shoots, we would put food, blankets clothing, cookware for two for a week, 3,000 round of 12 gauge target ammo and two shot guns. There was...
As I posted on the other thread, it could be a linkage problem where the transmission isn't going into park. As your car sat at dealer for a long time, it's possible the battery needs a charge as well. We have found many flakes happen with the computer when there are battery issues.
In addition...
Bad vibration damper or other rubber used in the drive train. The other thing to examine is the CV joints. My 62 Falcon developed a problem like that and it turned out to be an old rear transmission mount. The rubber had aged and could no longer handle the little wiggle that normally happens in...
I will need to be down there probably next week so I should wander around the lot and see that. If EVs go the way I think they will, that many EVs assembled in one area could become a rare sight in the future.
Curious. The Ford Edge isn't listed but I don't know where it is manufactured. Michigan does the stamp work for the mustang but no additional work is listed for a special project in Michigan. We can guess all we want but that's the point of a secret. Don't let anybody know your plans until your...
Look at it this way. Ford was considering terminating the Mustang line again but with EV sales crashing and a high demand for the gas Mustang, this may be the only money maker they have with the name Mustang on it. Things could be a lot worst if they didn't have the work for the assembly line.
I don't know but I had two honest dealers. The first said they only had 2 and they were both spoken for. That sales man said he wouldn't be offended if I looked elsewhere. The second told me how many they had and how many were gone. Providing specific facts is an indication they are telling the...
I would guess that without a change in the tune, you aren't going to see much difference in horse power unless you live a mile or more above sea level. Remember this year Ford went from one intake to two and while there is a little more horse power, it's not a huge jump. The current output is...
