OK this got interesting. Seems the FL-2127 is a high performance version of the FL-500 and is completely interchangable. The 2127 is longer and presumably has more filter material.
Go to page 2 of this thread I linked below to see how the 2127 comes up in a Ford Service computer. it comes up...
Page 311 of my 2025 manual says the FL-2127 filter is for the 2.3 Ecoboost.
Page 312 says the FL-500-S is for the 5.0
EDIT; FL-2127 is an approved replacement and an actual upgrade for the FL-500
I think I remember checking the dist. Cap and other things. I should also mention I saw my car directly hit by lightning watching from inside the store I was working at. It had some issues after that….lol. Funny, I had a 86 Escort.. What a hunk of poop. Bought it new too…
Some warm welcome for a new member….
We all were young once. And plenty of high school kids showed up with MUSCLE…
It took me a while to get a cool car. My first really cool car I got when I was about 21. A 72 Camaro with a 307. It was white, with black stripes and had Cragars/...
I’m happy with mine. Even though it just tapes onto the stock splitter, it’s flexible, doesn’t stick out too far and matches the side rockers. and it’s an official Ford product….well, Air Design product, but approved by Ford.
it’s polyurethane, not ABS. So more flexible...
I have the 12 speaker system and surround mode is more spatial. Stereo almost sounds like mono compared to it. That said, the stock B&O system overall is not that great and hope a new center speaker and Pioneer sub improve it a bit.
Welcome! Easy Google revealed 15 can get a Learners in FL. Wow.
You introduced yourself and posted a polite intro, so I don’t know about the snarky replies here. Yeah I’m jealous, lol, my first car was a big hunk o’crap 74 Gran Torino 4 door. But it did have a honkin’ 351 Cleveland. But it...
Instead of poly fill I decided to get a small sheet of Dynamat and line the inside of the box with it. Not saying what I’m doing is better, but I think I’m more concerned with limiting any possible rattle that might come from the plastic box.
You bring up a valid point. That’s why I thought to either rotate the speaker slightly, or fill the stock holes. Easy to fill the holes with some epoxy or even with some plastic sprue from one of my model kits. All I need is resistance against the screws in the new holes.
That said, you did...
Thanks for taking the time to show your installation! Much appreciated! That will help when my Pioneer comes in.
I still might drill new holes in the box instead. Never putting the stock sub back in, so it might be easier in the long run. Especially since I don’t plan to put the stock...
OK, after too much research and some frustration I settled on this 3.5 inch speaker.

Yes it still has a paper cone, but the magnet looks beefy and seems well rated and nice quality.
What makes the stock stereo somewhat...
OK, quick research tells me I need to replace the 8ohm speaker with 8 ohm. Or sound balance goes wack.

Cobra….I think the ohms on that speaker are too low for my guesswork, though the fact many of you used it says a lot.
OK I took the center speaker out real quick. The top is 3.5” but the opening is slightly smaller with the screw holes 4” apart.
The opening is only like 3.25” wide and Ford...
