I talked with one of our designers to ask about it. She said that the GT split screen is like 1/2" different than the non-GT screens so it doesn't fit quite right. We have ours designed to a MM so that 1/2" difference is quite a bit in our mindset.

I think its more of a general thing so that people are buying the correct piece. Most people buying with GTs seem to have the long screen. But some people buy separate screens thinking they will overlap on the long screen or something.
