  1. What's your go-to post wash wax?

I actually arrived at Bead Maker well after it blew up and became the "it" product for a few years there. But I eventually bought a bottle and slotted into a drying aid role. Not much can achieve that "just waxed" look and feel, especially from a product that ISNT a wax. I love using it after an...
  2. How to Rinssless wash you car.

I was very late to rinse-less, mainly because I had issues trusting the process. While I still have a very low rinse-less threshold, it's now very much part of my skillset. Something worth noting, the term "rinse-less" doesn't mean you can't rinse before washing. That was the game changer for...
  3. How to Rinssless wash you car.

P&S Absolute + Bead Maker is such a brilliant combination, doesn't get any slicker!
  4. DFB's Detailing Garage

Yesterday, Mr. Olly decided to have an impromptu swim while on a play date with his bigger friends. Without even hesitating, he stepped off the edge of the pool and onto the plastic leaf cover, a few wobbly steps later he plunged straight into the water. I plucked him out in seconds, the...

Koch Chemie are closer to Meguiar's in that regard, having several sub brands under the same banner. And quite often, like Megs, they are just rebranded in different bottles. For example, you have the professional series, the tall 1-litre white bottles with abbreviated names following the...
  6. Customer GTD at dealership!

I get ordering your daily driver in white as it has certain practical benefits. Some would argue white is good for resale. But a special car like this is an aspirational purchase, resale value means nothing. I've also never understood the reasoning behind spending so much money on something you...
  7. Customer GTD at dealership!

I can never understand why someone would pay that much money for a car, then basically choose not to choose a "color". White is a fleet color.
  8. Ceramic Coating - New Mustang GT

I get what you are saying, but why wouldn't they charge for a yearly maintenance wash/inspection? Unless the vehicle owner is able or willing to do that themselves, you pay for that service. Realistically, to do that "coating inspection", they would need to at least wash the car, feel for...
  9. Ceramic Coating - New Mustang GT

I would recommend reconsidering the wheels. If I could only choose just one place on a car to have ceramic coated, it would be the wheels as they are subjected to the most contamination on the car. Spending a little more now will reward you for years to come. Especially on white wheels!
  10. DFB's Detailing Garage

I took this image to accompany an article I wrote the other day. Every different towel here serves a separate role. As the old Castrol GTX ad said, "oil's aint oils", well, microfiber aint microfiber...............

For anyone wanting to try out Pressol sprayers but find the price a little rich, Detailing Shed currently have Pressol on sale. Pressol of Germany | Detailing Shed Important to note that this applies to the v1 "Household" and v1 "Industrial" versions rather than the latest Pro-Series...

Liquid Elements are the real deal. If you look at Matt's site, his go-to 5-inch polisher is an LE now, not a Rupes, Milwaukee, Flex. That's saying something! I think for US in Australia, ShineMate is still the best option for mid tier machines, they actually outperform the Flex and Rupes for 2...

I recently read a post regarding 303 Protectant as a tyre dressing, something I've tried before but a very long time ago. So, today I thought I'd revisit it after Ranger's weekly wash. 303 don't market this product as a tyre dressing. Instead, they market it as an enhancement and UV protectant...
  14. What areas do you think PPF is essential on?

Also, just note there is some risk to PPF. If this will be a long-term vehicle, chances are you'll need to replace the PPF down the track (say 7 to 10 years). As such, there is a very real possibility that removal can take paint away with it. Not always the case, but something to be aware of. A...
  15. What areas do you think PPF is essential on?

The key advice I would give here would be to never do partial panels, say half the hood or quarter panel. Over time, that edge will become very obvious, and you also have the paint aging different rates.
  16. Future Dark Horse allocations for Australia?

Pretty cheeky of Ford to now offer the Darkhorse again, even though it was termed a "special edition" for Australia. For the record, they are offering the standard Darkhorse as well as the 888 version.
  17. Ford Mustang GTD approved for Australia, with a catch

Going back to 2019, I bought four new buckets from Waxit. These were sold with either standard grit guards or the Dirt Lock type. Well, I bought two of each because I couldn't decide which one to get. The concept of the Dirt Lock grit guards is they better trap dirt at the bottom of the...
  19. DFB's Detailing Garage

As planned, I got a few hours of bliss in the garage today. The first job, applying the ADS Clean label to its own Pressol bottle, then mixing up a batch to use on the Wildtrak. Clean is a citrus-based All-Purpose Cleaner. Most APC's on the market are heavily alkaline, but Clean is pH...
