It wasn't tuned, and we never replaced it. Work was done under warranty including the engine work.
Still have it, though not mine, it was my parents who bought it new as per my recommendation.
Fingers crossed it will make it to 200K. Its relatively trouble free otherwise. But if it starts...
Stingers are incredible road trip cars, love em.
Only real issue is parts availability, and the lack luster engine durability.
Was told by the dealer that at 100K miles, the engine head bolts stretch enough that they need typically need heads done. Guess what happened at 100K just before...
Its all for the EPA's emissions standards. low viscosity oils, low tension piston rings, its all for an extra 1 or 2 mpg's at the expense of our motors.
I was lead to believe for years that its an issue of clearances, but I've since learned that's all bullshit. If you read into it, most engines...
It literally boils down to this.
Yeah the BMW is stellar at a lot of things when you look at them all separately. I have driven countless of them enough times to know, old and new. But the actual package as a whole adds up to something wholly different, and thats just a general vibe the car...

They're too heavy-handed, over bearing, and needy with all the tech. Even moreso, the engine just doesn't *feel* as unique or special. They'll whip the tail around no problem and send you around a corner...
This only applies when flooring it through gears.
When nailing it out of a decel, coming out of a corner, etc, its still an issue to me regardless of transmission. It can make getting sideways a little annoying too. You have to anticipate that the delivery of power is not instant when nailing...
M2 is an exceptionally well rounded car to drive.
Theres a boost threshold (not lag) that can be annoying, but once you're on boost they're real nippy.
The M2 also hides its weight very well when pushing around corners.
What kills the car for me, personally, is the lethargic clutch return...
I love the idea, but I honestly just want a brand new car - clean slate. I want to know the entire history of the car start to finish, ya know.
I'm incredibly picky with how I drive/treat my cars because I've seen what neglect does to even a good car, something as simple as not changing the...
