Apparently on Reddit there was someone present at the meeting and said people chuckled and whispered when they showed the 4 door.
Weāll see how it pans out
The mental gymnastics is crazy. At first I thought I was going crazy but comments on Instagram and Ford Authority reassured me that Iām in my right mind š
Before that it was the little Omni thing which got a lot of heat at the time. Besides I wouldnāt use Dodge as an example of good decisions. š
after all Mustang is bigger then anything theyāve made in my opinion, and I say that as far as legacy and staying power. Only Ford with the Mustang and...
Itās always been based around a 2 door coupe though. Ford experimenting is good but this is just marketing. I think thatās why it bothers me. Thereās a reason why Ford went back to the drawing board when the Probe was about to release as a Mustang.
but in the end like I was saying earlier makes...
Bronco was originally made to be a SUV Mustang though wasnāt it, Farley and many others have brought it up a lot, along with the fact it was approved on the same day.
They couldāve done that without the name though which is why sometimes I side eye Farleyās comments. This 4 door car will...
Itās not even a brand per se yet outside of the regular Mustang and all its variants and the Mach E which isnāt this knockout that Ford thought.
Like I said a 4 door sedan isnāt bad, I donāt mind a Baja Mustang. I just donāt understand why it needs the Mustang name. Ford made some pretty...
Mach 4 does sound like a AWD system. Lol
Honestly has there ever been a Nameplate turned into a brand like that though? From a performance perspective.
I get that but you donāt have to strap the Mustang name on to every performance variant car to help boost sales. Thatās the point I was getting at.
Not really the same thing.
They already did it like Porsche with a Bronco, Falcon, Raptor and GT. Porsche doesnāt make a 911 4 door, EV Crossover and so on because itās a nameplate with a certain ethos. They make a Panemara, Taycan, Macan, and Cayenne that embody some of the spirit but are for...
Watering down the nameplate. They cancelled the Falcon in Australia for the Mustang, killed off sedans and things because of sales, then try to push the Mustang name on those things.
Well yeah, then again Dodge is a one trick pony. Even their GM said they didnāt want to compete directly with Mustang and Camaro because they were better at making all around performing cars. Thatās per a conference call all the Dodge channels were posting a couple months ago.
Yeah heās talked about how iconic the name is and wants to essentially do what Porsche does with the 911.
But heās kind of everywhere with that logic. Looks like I have to save a little more, wouldāve been less of a blow to me if they offered the tremec in the GT. Lol
I agree 100%
I donāt get the obsession with needing to call it a Mustang. I saw someone on FB arguing that Mustang is a brand like Porsche, when itās in fact more like a 911. They throw some that ethos on other cars but rename them to maintain the model recognition.
Falcon itself like you were...
