  1. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Looks like maybe a concept drawing for the "Mustang I" -- but the Mustang I was a two-seat, mid-engine, V-4 (yes -- a four cylinder in a "V" configuration), and didn't have a top? If it's not that, it at least reminds me of that early mid-engine car. The date on it is interesting though --...
  2. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I'm saying if the V8 is to die, let the nameplate die with it, and offer a spiritual successor. Heck -- I like the idea of having a hybrid V8 a la some supercars, but with a manual transmission like the Honda CRZ (now dying -- shoulda put some power into it -- but i digress...)
  3. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I don't say that Mustang's that don't have V8's aren't Mustangs - merely that without a V8 offering, it's not a Mustang. If the Mustang is offered without a V8, it will be solely due to economies of scale, hence no V8, no Mustang.
  4. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

To me, if there's no V8, there's no Mustang. Keep a RWD sports coupe around put a turbo 6 or 4 in it, and call it something else -- I'm game -- but let's keep our Mustangs proper Mustangs, please.
  5. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

+1 I don't disagree with this at all. It's just a tune away, really.
  6. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I guess what I was getting at -- in order to preserve the wonderful exhaust note that we love, that you can only get from a V8 -- could all that's been learned from the current Coyote/Voodoo be made more fuel efficient by reducing displacement, and possibly boosting it, and having equal or...
  7. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I've been trying to like the way the Camaro looks now for these reasons. I can't quite do it. That, and the outward visibility. And the additional hit to the wallet I'd get if I traded my Mustang in on one: two new-car-off-the-lot depreciation-hits in less than a year. Nope. Not gonna do it...
  8. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I'm not an engineer, and am not sure what the balance is either -- but I think Ford will not take killing the V8 lightly -- it won't go without a major fight. Hopefully the S550 isn't the swan song. And I also don't disagree regarding the manual transmission. I wouldn't be surprised to find...
  9. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I love my NA Coyote -- may boost it later -- I don't know -- but... If saving the V8's means mandatory FI, I'll take it, however bittersweet it might be. It's a better prospect than killing them off, in my opinion.
  10. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I'm certainly glad I got my V8! But 2020 is just around the corner, really. With the current V8 selling as well as it is, I don't think they will kill it off completely, although depending on sales, the bean counters will want to soon enough. Was the move from the old 5.0 to the 4.6 modular...
  11. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Yeah -- I'd love something along the lines of a 3.5 liter flat plane V8 with a twin scroll turbo, with let's say 500hp, in a 3100lb car getting 25+ mpg combined. I wonder if Ford has any plans to do some kind of cylinder deactivation - if they've put something out there, I've missed it.
  12. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

This wait will be just as bad as it was for the 6th gen for me. Hopefully all the stuff that gets sent out to suppliers can still be intercepted by the likes of member chazcron, and we can get an accurate look at the new car well ahead. I'm going to start saving for it now...
  13. X-Plan on New Mustang

I think mine has elected to beat X-plan with me, and mark up their own admin fee, since X-plan caps that at $100, and then has a discreet charge for gas versus the dealers "complimentary" tank of gas. I don't care how they do it, so long as the money is right.
  14. Mustang Buying Basics + COTUS Guide

Shouldn't I see it in COTUS?
  15. Mustang Buying Basics + COTUS Guide

I've had a VIN for a week, but no build week assigned yet...
  16. Mustang Buying Basics + COTUS Guide

Does anyone know whether or not build week scheduling is something that only occurs on Thursdays, or does that occur any time?
  17. Mustang Buying Basics + COTUS Guide

COTUS goes up and down all the time -- almost anything seems to upset it. I was able to get in after my car was ordered, and then another retail order went in at my dealership the same week, and I was unable to get in until a VIN was assigned. Even now after post-VIN, I sometimes have to try...
  18. Mustang Buying Basics + COTUS Guide

I could log into COTUS yesterday, but not today -- what gives? I sent Rachel a PM... It says it can't find my build. Man -- I sure hope it's just because it's Thursday, and there's something good happening in terms of getting a VIN...
