I'm saying if the V8 is to die, let the nameplate die with it, and offer a spiritual successor. Heck -- I like the idea of having a hybrid V8 a la some supercars, but with a manual transmission like the Honda CRZ (now dying -- shoulda put some power into it -- but i digress...)

I don't say that Mustang's that don't have V8's aren't Mustangs - merely that without a V8 offering, it's not a Mustang. If the Mustang is offered without a V8, it will be solely due to economies of scale, hence no V8, no Mustang.

To me, if there's no V8, there's no Mustang. Keep a RWD sports coupe around put a turbo 6 or 4 in it, and call it something else -- I'm game -- but let's keep our Mustangs proper Mustangs, please.

I've been trying to like the way the Camaro looks now for these reasons. I can't quite do it. That, and the outward visibility. And the additional hit to the wallet I'd get if I traded my Mustang in on one: two new-car-off-the-lot depreciation-hits in less than a year. Nope. Not gonna do it...

I love my NA Coyote -- may boost it later -- I don't know -- but... If saving the V8's means mandatory FI, I'll take it, however bittersweet it might be. It's a better prospect than killing them off, in my opinion.

Yeah -- I'd love something along the lines of a 3.5 liter flat plane V8 with a twin scroll turbo, with let's say 500hp, in a 3100lb car getting 25+ mpg combined. I wonder if Ford has any plans to do some kind of cylinder deactivation - if they've put something out there, I've missed it.

I think mine has elected to beat X-plan with me, and mark up their own admin fee, since X-plan caps that at $100, and then has a discreet charge for gas versus the dealers "complimentary" tank of gas. I don't care how they do it, so long as the money is right.

Does anyone know whether or not build week scheduling is something that only occurs on Thursdays, or does that occur any time?

COTUS goes up and down all the time -- almost anything seems to upset it. I was able to get in after my car was ordered, and then another retail order went in at my dealership the same week, and I was unable to get in until a VIN was assigned. Even now after post-VIN, I sometimes have to try...
