The only thing I don't really like about the S650 front end is the large black band at the bottom of the grille, it just seems a bit out of character. For other front ends, in no particular order, I like the '18 (no surprise), Mach 1, GT350 and GT500. Had the '18 refresh not changed the front...
Yes, there's not a crystal clear statement saying ICE is going on through the eighth gen, so it might not be a solid declaration. And, of course, plans change...
Looks like Ford is currently planning on supporting ICE through the 8th gen:

I was curious what the Camaro folks had to say about it, given that the Camaro is going away, and I found it interesting that many of them also said it looks like a Camaro.
I haven't read every post in the thread, so others have probably shared the same sentiment, but a bunch of hate is pretty normal for a new release. While I don't feel the need to rush out and buy one, I think it looks fine. I think that the gray GT (I assume) looks good from that angle. The...
The Ford Falcon vs. the Millennium Falcon :) (sorry, going way off-topic here)

I was thinking more about the overall shape of the rear, not so much the emblem itself. I wonder if Ford might give the S650 some similar styling cues to the Mach E, perhaps even similar taillights or something.
Maybe I'm crazy, but that closeup kind of looks like the GT emblem from the Mach E to me, like they are trying similar design themes for both. No black band, and is just below a cut-in from below the camera:
To be clear, my posts were not voicing my wishes, or even what I would be happy with, but just stating reality. To expect Ford to do a lot with the Mustang at this point is just not realistic. As as been said, the original Mustang was a parts bin car, and it always has been. To develop a...
Exactly. Looking at the sales numbers over at 6G, Mustangs are at or below 3% of Ford's vehicle sales. Even if Ford made it a clean-slate design with great performance, the chances are that it would never exceed 5% of sales, and that is going to limit how much it's worth spending on development.
They would either have to take a loss on it, or charge a ton of money - you can't get around the financial reality - and they are unlikely to do either one. As mentioned before, it would become a halo car if they sunk all that money into development and that's not a Mustang either.
When referring to what customers are asking for, you have to remember that Ford's customers are for all of their vehicles, not exclusively Mustangs, so the reality is that most of their customers are, in fact, asking for those things. They vote with their dollars, and are buying vehicles other...
That C&D render certainly looks more like a refresh than a new build, and I wonder how much the rest of the car will look like the existing S550. Seeing that, rather than just the leaked front end images, it looks a little better than I expected, and I don't hate it. In general, though I am...
Thanks Ace, that was my understanding as well, so I was a little confused about the Jag reference. I guess both Aston Martin and the Mustang designers could have ripped off Jaguar, but that would surprise me.
Agreed on the SN95. I had an '04 GT and it was awful inside - so cheap, bad layout, and the seats sucked. The Mach 1 had better seats, but only by a little. I also had an S197 GT, and my girlfriend liked the exterior of that better than my current S550, but likes the S550 interior much better...
