Those of us who tend to frequent sites like this have a very unique perspective on this. But if you step back and look at this through a wide angle lens, it is actually quite genius. Ford is positioning itself to leverage the iconic Mustang brand to capture where most see the market heading. I...
I hope you're wrong about that. I owned 3 Fox body Mustangs (well, one was a Capri), I had a lot of fun with them and I did love those cars ... BUT I can't honestly say they were much to look at ... not compared to the '67-'70 styles or compared to the current S550s.
I am guessing at has to do with certification and/or import restrictions on certain features or configurations that make it not cost effective for low volume editions. The reverse also happens, there are cars available in Europe that cannot be imported into the US for street use.
If people stopped arguing about things that don't exist, then the internet would cease to exist, tech stocks would crumble, my 401k would crash, and I would have to sell my Mustang in order to pay for groceries 🤣🤣🤣
Not sure that I would agree with that. Although gasoline vapors are easy to ignite, gasoline in a liquid state is actually fairly hard to ignite. Further, liquid gasoline is fairly easy to store and the containers, plumbing, pumps, etc used to handle liquid gasoline are fairly easy to make leak...
Agree ... but my point was that even if they could make it safe, it is still no "greener" than other options. There is no free lunch here ... it takes energy to move our shiny little boxes around and that energy has a cost and creates consequences.
Not so sure I would agree with that. In my mind, a halo car is something like the Ford GT, very low production volumes and priced deep into the 6 digit territory. The Mach-E is being produced in much larger volumes and even though it is more expensive than a garden variety eco-boost Mustang, it...
Here is another thing to consider when it comes to hydrogen power ... as I understand it, hydrogen is typically obtained by cracking water into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis. Where does the energy come from to generate hydrogen at large scale? Yes, hydrogen is released as a byproduct in...
I honestly don't intend this sarcastically, but if you think the Camaro is a better car, why not just buy a Camaro?
My current S550 is the 5th Mustang I have owned. Every one of them, including my current car has been imperfect in some way, but that is part of the Mustang experience and it is...
I think the current Mustang is one of the best ever in terms of an overall balance of style, comfort, and performance at a relatively reasonable price. I still think the '69 fastback is the best looking Mustang ever, but the S550 is overall a better car.
Was wondering myself ... but having owned 3 fox body Mustangs, I do look back at those days with some fond memories :) Not the best looking or the best performing Mustangs ever, but they did have a certain "character"!
My old '83 GT brought me a lot of smiles.
Maybe I am missing your point, but you are also missing mine. Ford will only invest if they can see a clear way to make a profit. There is no way to make a profit developing a new ICE platform for a very, very narrow market segment. You would need 10 times the current Mustang sales volumes to...
I promise you, if Mustang, or any brand name became a "liability" Ford would just drop it. Ford is in business to make a profit for its shareholders, full stop. Mustang as a brand within their portfolio either helps Ford to achieve that goal or it gets discontinued. The directors of the...
The more limited the production the higher the price tag.
The true spirit of a Mustang is an affordable sporty car that can be equipped from the factory mild to wild. It also has a history of being a platform that lends to DIY customization. Turning it into an exotic no compromise performance...
Personally, I fear that if the Mustang went down that route, it would end up as a limited run $200k+++ prestige vehicle more like the Ford GT. Mustang's have always been "parts bin" cars built on available platforms. If that changes, then its whole character changes and it's not really a Mustang...
I don't know ... while I do see some styling queues that evoke the '69 - '70 Mustang fastbacks (which I wholeheartedly agree are the most beautiful muscle cars ever) I am not so sure this is really working for me. In particular, the front of the hood needs to extend further forward to keep that...
