@Frogdog1 ...... you could google it to see location. I believe it was a plastic cap on the passenger side of the transmission housing UNDER the car on my 2014. I see where RLE55 has posted the interval of 150K miles. As I said, when I changed the tranny oil on my 2014 after 8 years it still...
@Frogdog1 ..... good choice on the 10R80 .... you will smoke any 6 speed in a drag. You can use the paddles for shifting fun too. I give the 6 speed an edge on the track but IMO on every other metric the 10R80 smokes the 6 speed. Tranny oil change intervals answer is "it depends" - if you aren't...
@Alan Applegate ...... yes - you would have to jack the car ..... but - properly level to accurately read the stick. A lift would be far easier and while I have not removed the tranny stick for my 2024 GT on the 2014 it was east to break the plastic/composite stick ( and many techs did) if not...
@hoodscoops ..... yes - I would certainly expect the transmission to be properly filled from the factory. I have not heard of one that was underfilled but there's lots I haven't heard of. On my 2014 Mustang checking the tranny oil was a pita. It had to be done hot and you had to be very careful...
@hoodscoops ...... This is the dealer's fault for not doing a proper PDI. I have been told by my brother-in-law, who was an automotive engineer for GM that they ship the levels slightly low on purpose as they cannot control temperature (expansion) and level at the factory - too high a fill is...
@Abilor ..... very interesting, brings back memories. We used to use through the dipstick oil tube extractors for our marine engines. We knew we weren't getting it all as that is simply not possible with that system. Used it for thousands of oil changes. As we built more and more expensive...
@AZ_Ryan ...... you are correct - Ford does not recommend lubricating the oil filter gasket. When I asked my Mustang tech why, he said Ford explained that they were worried the oil filters would loosen under vibration if the gaskets were lubricated. All the techs apply oil as they said they had...
@Frogdog1 ....... when tearing down engines and dyno-ing engines we found that most FULL synthetic oils are very good. Oil analysis backed this up. Some thoughts for you: 1 - use a FULL synthetic. 2 - change the oil when it is as hot as you can stand it. 3 - pre fill the oil filter and lightly...
@Doug Watson ..... AWESOME! (yes it's a concern for you and a pita - but this is - IMO - good news) That is exactly what I would have expected should happen....a professional response.
@Grant4514b ..... are the white version of the lights considered DRLs (daytime running lights)? I have no idea about different laws and insurance regulations in different jurisdictions.....but a couple of years ago a friend modified his BMW's DRLs and was in an accident. He ended-up with a...
@Doug Watson ..... as I am sure you know Ford has a precedence network model to eliminate sources of inappropriate oil loss - from engine surface leak inspections and spark plug inspections to various leak down tests. I am hoping it is a simple fix. No matter what, at 6000 miles this is Ford's...
@Doug Watson. Good idea. If you aren't routinely bouncing off the rev limiter then something is wrong with that car. I don't care who says what - no way should a new engine (6100 miles) of that caliber and sophistication burn a quart of oil in 750 miles. Unless it has been really flogged hard...
@mustang mick ....99% of the time great reactions, peace signs from other Mustang owners, waves from non-Mustang owners, positive comments when stopped at lights or in parking lots - (my 2024 GT is a 'vert too) and yes, a lot want to race. Some who want to race are serious contenders WRZ that...
I LOVE this conversation, seriously I do. I say - AFFECTIONATELY - we spend 50% of the time on this forum discussing aftermarket H and X pipes, deletes and exotic exhaust systems that will make our rides ROAR and BARK and 50% of the time trying to quiet the cold starts. I have so much fun...
@72Skiddoo ...... looked at that exact combination at a dealers a week ago. It was absolutely stunning. You will love it. It had rim up-grade, Bose, 10R80 auto trans, active exhaust, space gray seats and molten magenta paint. The SG seats and the MM paint colors were meant for each other. The...
@robvas ..... you are correct. I asked a Ford tech about this and he said that's what Ford said and when he was taking a course a couple of years ago he asked why. The reply was that Ford thought the filters could work loose. He said all the guys taking the course had a laugh at the next break...
@steveo1960 ..... don't feel bad. I believe it was a Steeda video where they did an oil change on their first 2024 GT. When he thought he had finished he had installed the front of the belly pan so that the leading edges were sticking out and it would have been blown off the car - which to his...
@dtillsstang ..... about the oil filter. With a wipe of oil on the rubber gasket the filter will seat easily. Turn it until it is snug then (some say another 1/4 turn) I just tighten it a bit further. You'll know as it won't want to turn anymore. Don't use a filter wrench to tighten it as that...
