How dark can you go on tint in NC?

One guy out here got pulled over a few times and finally a big fine for too dark of tint here. I think it was more because of his loud wining car. Lol, although his tint was too dark too though. My son has his dark in his civic and never pulled over.

We can go up to 27% all the way around and ours is 27% and above for everything
