Alright gang, we have another one incoming...
SUPER VENOM by Hennessey | Supercharged Ford Mustang | Global Launch
I'm going to grab some popcorn for the incoming onslaught of replies...
Tee hee hee
(Apologies if this has been posted before) :)
Oh, 100%. I can't wait to see what that car will do in favorable conditions.
It's a shame they never shipped out a DH HP to see what that car is capable of either. I'm always more intrigued and impressed by the 'pedestrian' cars punching above their weight class than these uber-rich...
I respectfully disagree 100% with that statement.
Lessons learned (or AAR's for us in that sector) are absolutely transferrable. Keep in mind that Ford didn't go to the 'Ring with the GT350 and just throw out all of their knowledge gained...they clearly transferred that to ALL S550 and S650...
Not to intentionally stoke the flames here, but let's not forget that the GT350 was also developed at the 'Ring...and that was well before it's debut as a 2015 model. Ford has history there...they've been running laps/testing there for well over a decade on their performance models.
To be fair...
I'm going into the weeds with this one...BUT...
Let's look at GT3 class racing cars. The Mustang GT3 just took 1st and 3rd at Daytona a few weeks back. That car has to fit both the power and weight limits of GT3...which according to Wikipedia is between 500 - 600hp and 2640 - 2860lbs.
The...
It's a compound issue, too, right? When a vehicle gets more powerful, it requires beefed up cooling, suspension, brakes, drivetrain, etc...which all add even more weight. They're going to have to find a better balance or risk turning it into the Challenger...
EDIT: Just to touch on your tire...
Not to bring other cars into this, but the ND Miata is roughly 200lbs heavier than the NA...
For those who aren't savvy on the generations...that's a 1990 model compared to a 2025.
That translates to a 10% weight increase with literally 60% more power...over THIRTY FIVE years. Impressive...
It's true...some people put around in million dollar supercars just to go to the grocery store. I'll never understand it. But hey...people can do what they want.
That's just logic vs feelings... 😂
OP - Have you decided on what the car is going to be used for primarily? If you never intend on getting on a road course with it or decide to push it to 8/10th's or higher, a GT/PP is more than enough car.
The biggest factor, IMHO, is the transmission. If you're going with the 10A, you may as...
A muffler delete and an X-pipe will make you King of the rasp...
Some people like that sound, but for many its just obnoxious noise pollution. If you want a cost-effective exhaust, find a local exhaust shop and get something custom made. That or you can go with a cheaper cat-back from MBRP...
OP - I won't comment on the audio stuff, but as for tires, there are plenty to choose from out there. I've used high performance tires from MANY brands and categories and I'll say that for tires especially, you get what you pay for. Michelin tires, for example tend to be more costly, but they...
Don't forget, they sell the take-off parts, too. So the OEM PP wheels, tires and sensors (for example) are packaged up for sale as "take-offs". The same goes for any other part they remove. They aren't put in the dumpster, that's for damn sure...
While I agree on all points, I have a counter/solution to the R&D problem. I think this is where the perceived lack of drive and passion from the company are also made apparent...
Think of the legions of local track rats, auto-X demons and other grassroots enthusiasts out there who have had...
