Does anyone know if Ford is actually looking into why our settings are constantly reset when you start and stop the vehicle. Just curious if there's something actually wrong with my vehicle or is this a common issue for every owner.

Every time I get a new update I think that maybe they fixed the issue but even after the latest ABS update I'm still experiencing the same thing.

What's frustrating is that I could go maybe three or four complete ignition on ignition off cycles and everything would be great but then I go to get in the car the next time and my gauge cluster would be set to something random or the shift indicator RPM would reset to 4000. The newest thing after the update I'm seeing is that the shift indicator light mode is randomly flipped toggled to the off position.

Seriously though how hard is it to save a setting once you set it. I understand that there are some limitations in the system as far as starting up in track mode etc that's not what I'm referring to.

I used to also see this with the My color settings where you would go to set your colors up and then randomly they would be set back to some default values thankfully I haven't seen that in quite a while

So it is true, any color as long as it’s black - settable options as long as they are default.

hows your battery?

Yeah, I have the same issues... and have been from day one.

Settings that don't stick:
- My Color options on gauges or ambient lightning
- Shift Points
- Trip 2 MPG and MPH resets every ignition. The only thing that saves is the distance and time driving for Trip 2. In addition, if I disable Trip 1 for the HUD, after a vehicle restart, it pops back up on the HUD
- 24-hour clock display

So far, I think those are the four main things that I can think of or that pop up in my head.

can you leave the car sit for a couple/few days? after which, approach the car, passenger side and see if the door sensor unlock works. if it doesn’t, your BMS is indicating a battery condition - it will cycle off features 1x1 when this happens, including turning off remote features -which you see in FordPass.

if you have auto updates on, turn auto updates off and see if the symptoms persist.

Welcome to the Ford world of the worst infotainment system in the automotive industry. A complete joke.

Has happened to me since day 1 and still continues.

Make sure battery connections are tight. Recharge battery to make sure it is topped off. Check battery voltage after car sits for at least 2 days. Check voltage charge on battery from alternator. One other test is to turn on headlghts observe that they dim only slightly when starting car. Do this 3 or 4 times. If they dim progressively you need a new battery to begin with.

Are you saying you don't have any of these issues?

No and most do not.
Agree. ‘net forums are where you find bad things that have happened. The ratio of good things - 1/4 mile or lap times vs. ‘OMGITEOTWAWKI, my infotainment screen is too hot’ type posts is like 1% to 99%.

So who does it better, what specifically do they do better and how?

I get if you have a system misbehaving and taking 30+ seconds for a screen change, that’s definitely a warranty concern, but 1-2 seconds isn’t.

Scouts honor, I have owned BMW, Audi, Dodge, GM and never had to reset the infotainment system nor had my settings magically disappear. Never had no sound, blank screen or Car Play connectivity issues. That is what these manufacturers systems do better. They work consistently EVERY time you start the car. Period.

With Ford, this happens every single week. I’ve had all updates and the dealer also reloaded everything.

I feel your pain man. It's crazy you spend 60 for car and these are the issues we have to deal with 😥

Indeed my friend.

My favorite is when I start the car and get the track gauges with the pale blue color scheme I picked months ago. I always leave the gauges in Sport with a green/yellow combo.

I never had this with my Bullitt, GT350 or 2016 F150.

Oh well, I guess it really is first world problems.
