I'm trying to decide if I want to step up to the EB Premium which comes with ActiveX seating. I'm curious how current owner's of Mustangs with ActiveX are liking or disliking about the ActiveX material. Ford says that ActiveX is more durable than leather and will hold up well over time. Do you guys feel that is the case? Do you have confidence that your ActiveX seating will still look and feel good say 5-7 years down the road?

I'm not sure how long Ford has offered ActiveX seating so I'm not really sure we have ample evidence to decide one way or the other? I know I've seen a lot of cars with leather seats that look bad after 5 or more years with the leather cracking and stretching, etc. It looks like this EB Premium would add a 'premium' of around $2700 or so for me jumping from a base EB with the 101A package which has cloth seats (heated) w/vinyl bolsters. I probably should track down an EB with ActiveX (if I can find one) to take a nice hard look at it before pulling the trigger.

Anyway just looking for thoughts on the ActiveX seats and whether you think they will hold up as well as the cloth seats or maybe even better.

If I remember ActiveX is a type of synthetic leather, if done correctly it can be done nice. They call this leatherette for BMW. The only thing that was missing was that wonderful leather smell.

I ordered the Ecoboost and deliberately did not go to the highest Trim level because i wanted ActoveX not leather. I got my car in December and because it is a summer car for me (convertible) it is just sitting in my garage so I don’t have specific comments on it in the mustang. But i wanted ActiveX because i have those seats in my Subaru Outback and I love them. They are soft and comfortable. They dont get as hot or cold as leather. They clean really easily if you get mud or whatever on them. I greatly prefer them to leather. And the
Mustang material feels the same as the outback material.

I have them in my new EB Premium, and I like them. I would suspect that they will hold up over time better than leather, but we will see if that is true a few years from now.

Sorry to revive this old thread but ...

I'm looking for information about the differences between ActiveX seats and the REAL Leather-Trimmed seats. I'm planning to upgrade to a GT soon, but I'm not sure if I am willing to get the 401A High Equipment group just for real leather.

All I can find is that most buyers (who have never even felt real leather) are happy with ActiveX ...

But I can't find any reviews from people who have actually experienced both.

First off the quality of Ford leather is attrocious. It really is just one step above vinyl. Only the seating surface is leather, the rest is vinyl. I would do the active X and if I want leather move on to Katzkins or something of the same quality. I had Katzkins in my S550 and it was much better than the OEM leather.
