Off work for a couple weeks while the wife still has to work - so had some extra time.
Since my daughter got me some new air filters for Christmas (thinkautotech, thanks, I hate the oil type filters), thought I would show them off.
Custom project time...

S650 Mustang My clear airbox cover project. I like it... 1

Used clear silicone, in the one pic the left looks sus, but in person it looks nice and neat. Really took my time with this.

@msquad .... looks amazing and you saved hundreds. I plan to do this. Any step by step instructions? Did you use a zip tool to cut? What are the clear windows made from?

This is what I am planning on doing but thinking of using an h type rubber line seal to join the plexiglass with the edge of the cover. How did you glue the ends to each other? Could you maybe post a pic that shows a closer view?

Sorry this was a spur of the moment “I am gonna give it a go” on 1 airbox cover project thinking that if I messed it up, I just order another one and throw the damaged one away.

I used a dremel tool to cut then the dremel sanding tube to shape and smooth.

For less than $10 bought some clear plexiglass from home depot.

Clear silicone is how I glued it together. Will add some more pics soon.

Great custom trick. Have not seen this before. the only down side is you cut out the Easter eggs that were on the underside of the air box. Really nice gob.

Excuse my ignorance, but why? It's not factory. I would run if I saw that. Not that hurts anything, no gain. Just aesthetic? Just asking.

Car people just like to do things different. Not sure why, but if you don't get it you most likely never will.

I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't do something like that, but it's unique and looks pretty darn good. I know I've done things to my cars in the past that probably have left people scratching their head, but that's what makes "car people" special. I think it's cool. Good job. :like:

Good job! I've thought about doing this but don't think it would come out looking "professional".
