I just sold my Mach 1 with the MT because it was getting harder and harder to drive without hurting. I loved the car but not the transmission. But for physical reasons. That being said drive the car type you have. You do drills the first half of the day and I think it would be good to do in the manual. Also you don’t do a lot of shifting on track. 3-4 most of the time. You have to be going over 125 before you need to shift into 5th. Auto is not faster in a lead follow. Everyone is basically going the same speed.
The day is a lot of fun and a great intro to driving on a track.

My wife and I (both upper 50's) ran manuals. We had no issues during the day. Do not consider performance of one vs the other, it's not set up that way. It's about learning the capability of the car. I walked away knowing the cars capabilities exceeded my talent. I'm pretty sure it's designed that way. It was a jump off spot for us. We have since been to 2 road courses and are starting to autocross also. It created a new hobby for us.
