Cancelled: S/E QLD Cars 'n Coffee: Sat 25/01/25

Hi all

I'm sure some of us are keen for an occasional Cars 'n Coffee type meet.
Would be great to share stories, see other cars in the various guises , and discuss mods 'n things.

The last planned event in late November was cancelled due to crap weather.
Time to have a crack at another one!


Putting forward the idea of meeting at the Old Fernvale Bakery.

Rural setting, good coffee, and great pies and cakes.
Parking in the Fernvale Memorial Park opposite, along with conveniences.

Allows an opportunity for a straightforward drive there via the Brisbane Valley Hwy, and a more adventurous drive back via the Northbrook Parkway through Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo. (I haven't done this bit yet - keen to row the gears!)

Sundays are to be absolutely avoided, due to the nearby markets being open.
Saturdays, before or after the lunch time crowds.

Note:
This is the Australia Day long weekend, so avoiding Sunday (Public holiday) and the Monday (Public holiday in lieu)

Alternatively, if people have plans for the long weekend already, this weekend coming up?

Sorry mate, I didn't even see that there was a reschedule. I will note for next time to check the Events thread. Oh, and its the 25th tomorrow for Saturday, not the 24th.

Bugger, just sat down and browsing, actually in Brissie this weekend, but brought the van this trip

I was about to give up on trying to get these happening.
Tried this yonks ago but with another hobby, and it was like herding cats - I gave up.

I have only seen 3 other S650s out in the wild on Brissy roads since September.
Always keen to see what others have done to theirs.


Not wanting to point out the obvious, but never miss another post by clicking Watch for the Meets & Events:

How is everyone placed for the weekend of Saturday 22/2 or Sunday 23/2?
(In 4 weeks time.)
This is the only full weekend I have at home in the next 7 weeks.
Could do Saturday 1/3 as well.

Not sure where everyone is coming from, so meeting spot suggestions?
Do you want much of a drive to get there?
Preferably near a coffee joint.
Or a pub for a cold one?

#1 consideration: must have plenty of open parking for the chosen day of week & time of day.

That rules out most suburban cafes in & near shopping centers.

If you want a bit of a drive... The Fernvale bakery is good on Saturdays, would avoid Sundays because of the Sunday market.

Parking at the Esk cafe may not be a problem on a Sunday, as the car park around the corner has some businesses that are closed on a Sunday anyway.

And there is parking across the street.

Can't wait to get on one of these meets and check out everyone's rides.....done over 3k now in the DH, still not have seen another in the wild or a dealership.....was on the lookout for a white one with Black stripes as I drove down the Warrego on Wednesday, but have clicked up over 500km this week around Brissie, and still no s650 sightings.

Plan is to be back in SEQ that weekend end of Feb, but wont have the beast down here that weekend either.

Even joined the MOCA Qld chapter to see if there were any drive days that lined up with my roster as well.

Probably seen about 5 different new Mustangs around Logan Village so far.
Maybe we should have the meeting somewhere here!
Jokes aside, I'm happy with the Fernvale Bakery too. The Spit came to my mind, but it's a bit of drive for some (and the motorway is awful on Saturdays, coming from north)
Other than that, I've noticed Springfield Central has a bunch of outdoor parking spots outside the shopping centre... not sure if that's a good option I'm okay with 22 or 23 Feb

I was looking at the MOCA events as well - nearly tagged along on their run to Redcliffe a few weeks ago, just to see what the turn out was like. Not sure if it is all older Mustangs (more of a restoration type vibe), rather than new models.
They have got a run coming up Feb 2nd to Mt Tamborine which could be a fun drive.

Depends on how much of a drive people want to do (and where they are coming from...) - a couple of short local trips - Sirromet Winery at Mt Cotton, or Harrigans Irish Pub at Jacobs Well.
