I believe the mechanic can temporarily remove 1 or more O2 sensors to allow the exhaust gas to escape thus relieving the back pressure and see if the car starts. Another way is to temporarily remove the down pipe. Usually prior to a converter failing you would get symptoms like rotten egg...
1. Any codes?
2. Cats, unless totally clogged should not generate a crank no start condition.
Easily diagnosed by disconnecting them.
3. You need to find a mechanic who can monitor cam position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, fuel pressure and spark.
Don't use the parts cannon method...
Not to scratch an old wound but what puzzles me is why some cars have the tick and others do not? Also why many report after the first oil change? As an engineer that troubles me. I am suspecting that like others have said, some people just don't notice it which is going to skew the data. My...
For me: records 78 RPM and so forth.

Digital tape.
Along the same lines, my wife drives a 2024 VW Atlas and despite all of it's high tech features wanted a CD player so she can listen to books on CD from the library.
Easy to plug a CD player into...
I have purchased a lot of cars in my 64 years on earth and 2 things have nagged me.
1. Alignment.
2. Squeaks and rattles.
So my 2003 GT vert has had a dashboard buzz for years. I have tried everything I could think of which included stuffing foam here there and everywhere to the point that I...
Aside from bad batteries, that was my thought as well. New cars have modules everywhere and while most of them are designed to go to sleep after a certain amount of time, maybe some are not causing a parasitic drain. Just a theory.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. What I did was put a fresh sheet of cardboard under the car to trap stuff and let me know. So far so good. Fingers crossed. Toes too !
This is wonderful news because it tells the world that Ford is still supporting the ICE Mustang. If you read between the lines in the Dodge, Chevy groups the enthusiasts are very pissed at the EV direction Dodge/Chrysler and Chevy are taking with their muscle cars and these people are applauding...
Thanks for reporting back. Mine is only on the driver's side and is minor. The good news is every other gap on the car is literally perfect and I am lucky in that respect. When it warms up a little here, I'm going to remove the black plastic cover in front of the engine and take a look in there.
So I have a floor jack with the hockey pucks to fit the pinch welds. So where do I place the jack stands after I jack up my car? My previous Mustangs had full length subframe connectors so it was easy. Thanks in advance 1
That's good. Also just because the dealer doesn't have that particular car on the lot doesn't mean they can't get it from another dealer. Dealers swap inventory all the time. No cost to you of course.
If it were me, I would see what the dealer offers to replace it with. Even if you sacrifice on maybe not getting the exact same car, you can probably negotiate a more optioned car because the dealer doesn't need the headaches of lemon law etc. Also if that method doesn't work out, it looks good...
