I agree, a slight pull on the upper left of the driver's screen and it stops.
Let it go and it resumes.
Mine is at Ford for the second warranty fix on this issue.

Had a '79 Trans Am and missed it all these years.
I would urge you to go with the auto and paddle it on the days you feel more sporty.
