I think the S650 GT's lack luster times are really just bad manual gearing, carried over from the S550 update. A 2016 Camaro SS (also manual) with less horsepower but more torque did a 0-60 test at 4.0s flat. That was on Goodyear Eagle F1s from 7 years ago.
Ford probably kept the tall gearing...
Yup, from Car & Driver. They are known to be pretty abusive to get their numbers, so it's hard to imagine the S650 doing better with them.
Pretty disappointing IMO. I was expecting a better time in the 1/4 with the extra HP.
I also really like the base S550 seats. Yeah they aren't anything special to look at but they fit my 5'07 150lb me like a glove. My only other nitpick would be some more lateral support.
Promising news so far for the GT. The horsepower bump makes sense with the dual air intake (better airflow at higher revs, more torque at the top end).
Now we need to know...
Curb weight. Anything more than a tiny weight increase vs the S550 will offset the power bump.
6-Speed gearing. Will...
Or I could just have buttons and enjoy my favorite song without interruption. Same goes for having a passenger in the car. I could discretely adjust the climate control while having a conversation or I could tell my passenger to shut up while I issue my car commands.
To each their own!
