I wonder if the Mustang will survive the electrification of cars?
It sounds to me that all cars and SUV/trucks will be built even more so on common platforms. This sounds like the old TCR and Aurora slot car where you can swap bodies but the drivetrain and wheels remained together.
Let's...
For many, driving a manual was the way to get the highest performance but that is not true of all manual drivers.
For me, it is not about speed and performance. Driving a manual is driving. Being in an automatic is like being a passenger who occasionally turns a wheel.
Do we have to take the...
Sorry to go slightly off topic but I really hate it when people talk about cars that do some aspect of driving for you.
The Mustang is a DRIVER'S CAR. You are meant to drive it!! It has so much power and performance that if you are acting stupid it will kill you and/or your loved ones or...
I tend to wait a year or two before buying new tech. Letās see what issues the first adopters have before joining the bandwagon. Besides, they always leave something on the table for an āupgradeā later as sales diminish. That would be the time to buy in my opinion
If I wanted to save 200 lbs, I would keep my fat Bu++ out of it :) LOL.
Speaking of battery, did you see how small it is? I was shocked. My '86 Daytona had a series 34 battery which was huge compared to the one in the Mustang.
I wonder how much more it would actually cost Ford to just...
An article suggesting cars in the same class as the Mustang
I should have said BMW 2 series instead of M2 Comp but the M2 Comp does fall in the price range since it extends all the way to the GT500 starting at , what $76K...
if you are going to add weight and reduce its performance, you could compare it to a 70's Cadilac because that is where you will end up with. Why, because one can charge more for it? The GT350 IS in that bracket. A buddy just purchased an M2 Comp in the low $40Ks.
Who says you have to...
By the way, the venerable Fox body mustangs were smaller too than the S550
a 1984 Mustang GT was
179.3 L x 69.1 W x 52.1 H . Still smaller than a S550.
The 1984 GT hatchback weighed about 3167 lbs. 600+ lbs lighter than a S550.
Interior volume was 83 cu ft so about the same as the S550...
IF the M2 Comp can do it, why can't the Mustang. The SN95, as pointed out above, was 183.3 L: x 73.1 W x 53.1 H with a 101.3 wheel base and 83 cu ft of interior volume. It had the same V8 block, roughly, in there. OK it was a 4.6 but it took up the same space as a 5.0L.
The SN95 has less...
Define smaller? Is it interior volume, wheelbase or what? Just because a car is long does not make it have lots of interior room.
Is an M2 small?
176.2 L x 73 W x 55.5 H and a wheelbase of 106.0" and only weighs 3561 lbs. It is 12" shorter, 300 lbs lighter and yet has a longer engine...
I would love it if they could get the Mustang on a diet.
Slim it back down to 70 inches wide and shorten the overall length about 18 or so. The current car has so much wasted space as it is. The doors also could be thinner giving space back to the interior.
The front wheels could be pushed...
