Speaking of porting, I also heard that the 22+ gen 3s (the ones that had the black IM and not the grey IM the 18-21 had) had a lot more, and consistent, casting imperfections which hindered power. Early gen 3s also had a viscous damper that was changed back to a harmonic balancer around 21/22...
IL also requires front plates. I went 4 years without a front plate on my 2019 GT and my dad has yet to put one on his Genesis. Neither of us have had any issues. Ymmv, of course, so take from that what you will.

On one hand, I can believe it. On the other, it seems really hard to swallow that ford would invest any R&D into the new intake set up, cams... anything. Only for them to achieve LESS power than the outgoing gen 3 (excluding the 10 hp drop for the new charcoal filter).
