  1. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

That's a big grille...I hope the concept designer has a purpose for it...like a massive intercooler for twin turbos attached to a hybrid AWD 5.0 V8.
  2. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Musk's end goal is to drive his personal car down his personal tunnel highway on his personal planet (Mars). :D His personal 2007 Tesla Roadster is currently sitting atop a Falcon Heavy awaiting launch to an orbit that is of Mars distance from Earth. Sorry to go off topic - it' s a fun time to...
  3. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

Thanks for that info! I'd be bummed if it wasn't an AWD hybrid, but this route would make more sense. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what comes of this.
  4. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

My big question on the potential 2020 hybrid is if it will be setup like the Prius where it powers only one axle, or setup so that the electric motors sit on the front wheels, essentially creating an AWD Mustang with V8 like power.
  5. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

That's a very valid point, and I completely agree that the gov should quit subsidizing the EV auto makers - the transition to 100% EV on the road will happen - they're just helping make it happen sooner. With that said, at this point I fully believe that auto makers are just lining their...
  6. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

You're allowed to have your own opinion ;) Change is hard. The problem is that change happens whether we want it to or not. The evolution of transportation has happened for various reasons over the past thousand years, but one thing remains true - it happens because new modes are more...
  7. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

EV tech is the future, and there is nothing we can do to stop it from happening. It's best to simply embrace it. At this point, with most European nations setting 2030-2040 timelines to completely outlaw new combustion vehicles, I would be shocked if the S650 didn't have some EV component at...
  8. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

I wonder if the 2018 has already added bracing to improve this score. I know that other manufacturers made changes to vehicles within a model year to improve the small front overlap score without making any noticeable changes to the vehicle. With the entire front end of the Mustang changing...
  9. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

The hybrid system seen here is very relevant, as there is a solid chance that we see something similar offered in the S650.
  10. 2021 MUSTANG (S650) - 7th Generation Mustang Confirmed

The Fusion concept doesn't look half bad - the nose is a bit aggressive, but I suspect that will be dialed down a bit when it's released in a few years.
  11. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

I wouldn't be shocked to see something like this end up on the front axle of the S650. With Ford supposedly dumping a ton of money into EV tech, and with sales dropping due to FWD/AWD alternatives on the market, they'd be crazy not to at least provide the option. I'd have to wait an extra year...
  12. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

Talk about "beating the system" is nothing new. Ever since we've been told how to drive, we've been thinking up ways to bypass the regulations. Disabling seat belt alarms, cutting out cats, exhaust valves, front plate hiders, the list goes on. Future autonomous tech will require a set of...
  13. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

I hear you, Norm - it's going to be a very different world. FYI - where we're going in the future, your car won't need oil. :p
  14. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

No car enthusiast is wishing for this transformation - it's simply the natural progression that our society is taking, as mentioned before, there is practically nothing that will stop the change from taking place. We can all agree that the majority of drivers on the road are the culprit for the...
  15. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

The reality is that it's likely that there is no going back. Diagnostic technology will further improve to the point that a dangerous vehicle will simply not be allowed in an autonomous infrastructure. Refuse to maintain your vehicle? It likely won't be able to leave your driveway.
  16. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

It would be in a lawyer's interest to stop the technology, as it would cut injuries from accidents by a huge amount. It would also eliminate a large percentage of the police force, as the need for traffic cops would drop significantly.
  17. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

Depending on legislation that is enacted to make the system work, those two things would be one in the same. :(
  18. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

You might laugh, but the one card that could be played that brings autonomous tech to a halt is the instance where a global alliance puts a complete stop to advancing A.I. tech. It wouldn't stop autonomous vehicles for good, but it would certainly delay it significantly. Elon Musk, Stephen...
  19. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

We've had this discussion a lot lately among various transportation/traffic engineers in my department. The one thing that we all agree on is that a fully autonomous system is safest and only truly works when everyone is utilizing the technology. There will be a time period when the most...
  20. Mustang Hybrid (S650) Announced, Debuts in 2020

I understand the fear factor that is tossed around, especially in the automotive community, but I can tell you for certain that the technology to be fully autonomous already largely exists. I work in the transportation industry and am heavily involved in remote sensing / remote data...
