Yeah they sure are. I had a 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege before my Mach 1. I miss that little thing. It handled like it was on rails. 70 mph slalom from the factory ftw!!! It turned into a little straight line beast once I forged the internals, added a larger turbo and turned up the boost!
My brother owned an 89 4cyl hatch so I know the feeling! :D
Terrible build quality but at least it didn't weigh 2 tons.
My point is the size of the vehicles not the build quality. I argue the same point with full size trucks. I've contemplated a 2/4 drop on my F-150 cuz the truck is...
I can fit an entire basket of groceries in the trunk of my Mach 1 and have room to spare! If I need more space, there's always the back seat. If you had grown up around Fox bodies and SN95s like I did you'd know where I'm coming from about the new ones being too massive in size. And I think...
I'd be all over a car like that. Hell my sisters 2001 C5 Z06 got 31 mpg with both of us in it. If you make the car smaller not only will it be lighter but all your unsprung weight will be less because you don't need a massive wheel/tire setup to fill the damn wheel wells.
You don't have to be old to want to keep some pedigree of the brand going. Like I said earlier. I don't care if you make it 3.5 Liters just keep it a V-8. Hell make it 3.0 for all I care.
I would be on board for hybrid tech when all easier and cost effective options had been exhausted...
When you get to my age? Dude i'm 41! My biggest gripe is that it has to be either/or. Just give me a 3.5L V-8 instead and I'm golden! But don't try to cram that shit sounding 6 banger down my throat. If the Ecoboost sounded like a GT-R or a VQ35 we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Yup. They always feel the need to have to re-invent everything! They come late to the game and and then they have the audacity to criticize us for wanting to keep the mustangs pedigree intact.
Wanna make the mustang more fuel efficient and faster? Let's start with making the damn thing...
I couldn't have said it better myself. I don't see why it has to be either a small turbo V-6 or a N/A V-8. Why not a smaller V-8 with turbos?
Fuel efficient and yet it's "badassery" is left intact!

Like hell they didn't! They purposely made the 5.0's "feel slow" by making the throttle response so slow and making it upshift too soon at part throttle. There is no reason why a truck should be in 6th gear at 45 mph. I also shouldn't have to the press the pedal halfway down just to get it to...
