That's easy. Ford can make a variant of the Fusion that has 400+ hp. No need to name it "Mustang" when it's a souped up Fusion.

No objections there, if it's a 2-door, pony car. Drive trains will evolve--remember the Pinto-based Mustangs of the 70s? Much different than slapping horse on a 4-door or SUV.

Just looked at the site. Mustang and Bronco didn't appear to be presented as subsidiaries, like Mercury and Lincoln. Just appear to be links to two of their best sellers (Mustang and Bronco). No doubt many people will by a V8 Taurus with a pony emblem, which is what it would actually be.
