I hope if this is a 24 Mustang, it's like a sedan only version. (or EU version, since it has the ugly EU mirrors on it) As much as I'd hate to see a Mustang Sedan, I'd hate this to be the actual coupe front end even more.
It's the last V8 powered Ford car. A tradition and instant hit since 1932. They should keep a V8 Mustang at least 10 more years, Then they can go out with a V8 100TH anniversary model. My first 6 cars bought were all big block V8's. When V8 cars cease to exist, I won't buy another new car.
I love the 68 and 70 Thunderbirds. Those 429 TJ engines were awesome. The 70 Bird had the Bunkie beak and 5 sequential tail lights on each side. With all the options and sportsroof they were very unique cars. I'm not a big fan of the 64-66's which had horrible front suspension, and were heavier...
Really wouldn't have made much difference. Stock there was very little wheelspin. I don't see more than a tenth or two loss on a concrete road. Definitely not 13 seconds slow!
Lack of demand once all these people get their wish for a HP 6 cylinder (providing that manufacturers keep investing to build 6's (inline or V) and fail to keep evolving the V8). That is what will kill the V8.
Every Ford EV sold helps keep the MPG average up so the V8 Mustang can stay in production. The V8 won't die if enough people buy them. As much as most of us hate the Mach E, it has a purpose, and it is raising cafe numbers.
First Mustang I wanted enough to buy new. I wanted another Lightning, but Ford never made another after 04, until they decided to make it an EV. Not ready to leap into EV's yet.
2.3 is for the younger crowd who can't afford a GT, or for the secretary types who wouldn't know what to do with the power. GT fills the power hungry group, and gives a nice platform to start with. A V6 EB would be like the awkward middle child.
Yes, no V8, no Mustang. 2018 was the first Mustang that I really wanted. I will not buy a Mustang without a thumping V8. Zero interest. Not with a V6EB, not with a 1000HP AWD electric drivetrain.
