The in house Ford catalog system has the GTD as a completely separate vehicle altogether from the regular S650. Looked at the rotor and brakes yesterday, yikes! 5 grand per rotor!
All of the parts for the GTD have been in the online catalog for some time. None of the bespoke pieces are inexpensive, and many of the replacement body parts are not only expensive, but require the car be sent to Multimatic for installation.
The rental Ecoboost car I had was grabber blue with red seats. Pretty eye opening, but for those with historic knowledge you'll remember the yellow '69 Boss 302 in the press photos with its red interior (vermillion actually) as well as the green 70 Boss 302 press car with the same color interior.
And those prices don't include paint or labor. If you think that one's insane, price the GTD or GT500CFTP rear spoiler...go ahead...I dare you. Don't expect any change from your $40k.
From what I take in light of Farleys recent comments, we'll never see a Bulllitt, Mach 1, Cobra, Boss, Shelby GT350 or GT500 roll out of a Ford plant as long as he's holding the reins. Everything is about the Dark Horse, his personal Mustang stamp. His own words were that Shelby doesn't race...
It's painfully obvious after Thursday nights dog and pony show that Ford is trying to distance itself form Shelby, Boss, Mach 1 and any other legacy nametags. Ford wanted to be Tesla at one point and has paid the price. Billions of lost and wasted investment. Now it want to be Porsche, and...
The number embossed or on any tag will not be the actual part number, but what we call the engineering number. It should be crossed over in the parts catalog of any dealership. You might be able to Google it as well.
The replacement hood runs about $1600, but the hood deflector/vents are $5500 each for the non carbon track pack cars, but only $1500 each for the CFTP cars. The hood hold downs are still stupid expensive as well.
Glad to see that you car came with the correct red center caps o the wheels. Man did not, as was the case with the one our dealership got in about 6 weeks ago. There's a bulletin out for replacement of the incorrect black center caps for those cars delivered with those.
When the original Mustang logo was being designed, the question was posed as to how anyone would know that this was an American horse. Designer Phil Clark famously went to work and added the red, white and blue tri-bar to the design. The rest is history. America!
