A caveatā¦.you might want to shorten the sidewall height a little on the fronts, mine rub a tiny bit at end of track when coming down and hitting a bump. Has never hurt anything, just a very minor rub here and there at the end of the track.
My fronts are Weld Ventura 20x5 rims with Bridgestone Ecopia 175/55 R20 tires. My rears are Weld Ventura Beadlocks 18x10 with Mickey Thompson ET Street R Drag Radial P305/45 R18, no spacers. Hope that helps.
Finally, the weather has cleaned itself up enough to get back on the track. After a couple of short lived track visits at the end of last year and a few small mods over winter it was time to try again. Hereās to a good, clean and fun year in 2025!!
Can't speak to whether replacing one vs replacing 2 causes imbalance (because I had both replaced) but can definitely speak to the Dark Horse. If you are whippled, I recommend 100% replacing the half shafts if you are going to drag race with a drag pack. If not racing with the car, probably...
Good job on the video sir. I am sending out for my update now. Unfortunately it doesn't appear they will be doing any more runs this year at the track close to me. Was hoping to see what kind of a difference just the updated tune would make by itself....oh well....will be glad to have the...
Here's the video of the broken half shaft, you can see and hear it go about 2 seconds in when the car sits back up with my foot on the floor.....I did manage to get the 60 ft time which was my best time to date on that data point.....
Hi Bronco,
Unfortunately, it was my dark horse in that video that was supposed to run against the blue mustang with the roush. We weren't able to run each other as I broke the drivers side stock half shaft on the very first practice run of the day that Friday.....sigh. I was very much looking...
Hi Ace,
Correct, Iām a stage 2 whipple set up. I havenāt dynoād since first putting the whipple onā¦at that time with no other mods we were about 730 RWHP. Since then have added long tube headers, gone down 3 pulley sizes from 3.750 to 3.375, added a boost-a-pump to ensure fuel delivery for...
To everyoneās point, not saying you have to replace them, just thought it was prudent while the engine was that far down. Guess no reason not to, even if not really necessary. I didnāt want to look back and be that āoneā guy that actually had a problemā¦..lol. Cheap insurance might be a better...
Yes sir, driver side half popped. Track was prepped awesomely. Everything was sticking tight. It broke on shift between gears. Wish I wouldāve already replaced before handā¦.but alas
Hi All,
Just passing along some advice for those of you that have upped the Horse Power on your favorite Dark Horseā¦.Change out the stock half shafts as soon as you can.
I had read other comments around half shafts breaking when putting the pedal down to the floor and should have taken heed. I...
Hmmmm.....I'm thinking somewhere in the mid to high 9's.....actually about to install headers, boost a pump and take the pulley down from the 3.625 to 3.50 to see if breathing and another down pulley helps her a bit. It's finally starting to cool down in my area so I'm hoping to see some...
